GreenStreet: Mixed-Use Development At 1201 Fannin St.
nmainguy replied to MontroseNeighborhoodCafe's topic in Downtown
He probably was serious. I don't think heritage and sense of place have much room in the world view of people like niche. It's a shame but I'm not surprised he doesn't have a grasp of the historical signifigance that downtown holds for many of us and the desire to see it grow and prosper over the wants of more strip center developement on the Katy Prairie. It is a deeply held belief for many that DT is worth preserving and growing. -

Because of it's proximity to the far left lane of north-bound 59? [sorry...strayed off there a bit] -
Not to mention parking and access. DelMar is a huge parcel in a very accessable location. I hope they are still considering it.

That's what Sarnoff reported. http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/front/4332530.html We'll know for sure when they actually break ground and the entire project scope is published -

Office was always in the plans. It's only the residential they have deleted. -
Personaly? I'm a shopping snob. I don't care to shop in WalMart's filthy stores filled with ill-mannerd, pot-bellied, perpetualy pregnant women and their 8 kids running rampant nor do I desire to be "serviced"-that's a joke-by their perpetually miserable "service" staff. The few times I was in a WalMart I never saw a more unhappy group of employees-almost as if they were doomed. So if I have to go to a "Big Box", I'll choose Target as they seem to at least keep the aisles swept and have half-way decent help.

I know! Let's just pay for EVERYTHING so the uber wealthy team owners don't have to dirty their hands with icky construction contracts, land transactions and ticket sales. We'll just pay for everything and send them a check every month!!! Next we can build "crazy" [whatever that means] developments for them and give them all the profits!!! CAAAAAAAAAAaRAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYZEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

If you build a soccer stadium anywhere outside of Houston, you end up being just another Dallas. You will NOT have a genuine Houston team just as Dallas does NOT have genuine football and baseball teams-they don't play in or generate revenue for Dallas. They suck off the Dallas label while generating revenue for Irving and Arlington-and now for Frisco. I'd prefer to have our Houston teams play IN Houston. The benefits for the city far out-weigh any other option. And once again, is DelMar off the table?

Actually it would increase traffic more at 610 and 45-if at all. You must be thinking of NW Mall?

I think that was a movie...ya know? Fiction? I agree DJ. It's not worth it at this time. Let's see if they stay in Houston first. Have you heard anymore of the DelMar site?

Agreed. The operative being "here in Houston" as opposed to the Arlington Rangers, the Irving Cowboys and now the Frisco FC Dallas. I wonder if Dallas will ever get their own baseball, football and soccer teams?

Good post. South of UHDT is Main-north of that is N. Main. That is established as the street was expanded northward and someone decided to change the name as opposed to giving the next address northward a negative number as in:-One Main. Therefore, from UHDT traveling north, the street is called North Main. Our home address on the west side of the street on N. Main is an odd number. We have a property on the same side south of UHDT that is even. Frankly, I've never given any thought to what the difference is until now. If someone has an answer I'll give them the Trivia Street Numbering Challange Award 2006. Award to announced at a later date...

You knew? Are you clairvoiyant? Or perhaps you have mis-identified the "maroons"?
