I found this: http://www.hotelbusiness.com/main.asp
Hit Ctrl+F and look for Indigo - it's a java pop-up, so I don't have the exact addy.
To sum up, it says
However, unlike previous Hotel Indigos, the Hotel Indigo Houston will materialize from a conversion of a non-lodging commercial property. The brand itself has been created primarily for conversions. The Houston property will have 140 rooms and will located at 5160 Hidalgo St. The hotel will also offer the Golden Bean restaurant, a fitness studio and complimentary wireless high-speed Internet access in all guestrooms and public spaces.

There is already a thread started on this topic.

Postponed for redesign!
From that same article:
"We found much more demand for 2,000-square-foot apartments," said William Friedman, chairman of New York-based Tarragon Corp., which is developing the project with Florida developer Robert Day."Ya think?

I like the Texas color scheme.
Actually, it reminded me more of the opening of Law & Order than the Texas flag.

No. Seriously. I think we light up just fine at night. Or perhaps you haven't seen?

Just because you can't seem to find a picture on the internet doesn't mean squat. If you haven't ever been to Houston, how do you know?

From the article:
The proposed site of the development houses the Houston Independent School District headquarters, which is selling the property to Trammell Crow and is using proceeds from the sale to build a new headquarters. The development site is within walking distance of Greenway Plaza. So, why not use this money to make HISD a better educator? Or to get rid of mold? Huh? Huh?

I really enjoy Palio's pizzas. Thin crust without too much marinara sauce and tons of cheese. Mmmm.

I think your memory may be confused...you are probably thinking about the Texas Cyclone not the Tornado. Its another wind storm so similar
Cyclone.. Tornado... Same thing. The Cyclone opened in 1976 and is still there. I'm not crazy.
-
I think Texas Tornado has some kind of historic value to it, now that I think on it. Here's a little article on it:
http://www.ultimaterollercoaster.com/coast.../late_80s.shtml
And I was wrong. According to this it isn't at AstroWorld any more. I think I will cry.
"The Thriller, owned by Oscar Bruch & Sohn, opened in 1986 on the German fair circuit. [...]It was purchased by Six Flags, moved to Astroworld in 1998 and renamed the Texas Tornado (originally called Taz's Texas Tornado, but the Taz was dropped for the 1999 season). After the 2002 season the Texas Tornado was dismantled and sent to Six Flags Marine World (Vallejo, CA) where opened for the 2003 under the name Zonga." -
The only name of a ride that stands out in my mind is "The Texas Tornado." But keep in mind, the last time that I went to Astroworld was way back in the summer of 1978.
Chet Cuccia
Hey, it's still there. Last time I rode it was in the mid '90s though. One of the best wooden coasters ever.

I have found a new love for Spaghetti and Meatballs. Is that place any good. I have found that Carrabas, Romanos, and Paulies have the best S&MB's in town. But a place called Spaghetti Wharehouse has to have some good eatin ?? Just wondering.
The one in Louisville is still good, but I wouldn't go within a block of the one here. It's just fallen into a pit of despair. I'm not the only one.

Word is there's only 139 units in the four-story building and 150 units in the big one. Perhaps the ones in the larger building will be larger 2-3 bedroom units and the ones in the four-story building will be efficiencies and 1 bedroom units. This is just my assumption.
Any confirmations? Denials?

Come on, everyone! If he doesn't set off the Troll-O-Meter, we're going to have to get him to run around with a big blinking sign saying

Hmm. Actually, there's that eyesore right next to the surface lot and Root that could stand to be torn down. You know, that building with all that red lettering on the top? All that space... Think of the trees they could plant there.

Hey guys. I finally got a chance to do a drive-by photo shoot of the Metropole.
As seen from the parking lot next door (the east side of the building):
A tad closer up:
Initial drive-by, going west on Richmond:
Fancy signage, eastbound on Richmond, the west side of the building:
This is where I'm sure that 4-story building is going to be; on the Edloe (west) side.
I'm terribly sorry these aren't any better. The only time in the day to take pics of this building is on my way to work and traipsing about a construction site in heels isn't ideal for photographing a construction site.

How can someone be in the energy industry and not know about ChevronTexaco's move from their old bldg to Enron II?
I don't work for ChevronTexaco, for one, and there isn't an inter-energy-company network (I think we get in trouble for that ... something about Enron. ) that sends out such notices. The only way we hear about stuff like that is from "Friends who work there" and articles in the newspaper. I haven't been in too many companies, so ...
Then again, the memo could be floating around on my desk somewhere.

You'll be glad for that parking garage when you move into your newly-remodeled condo overlooking the Bayou.
-
I don't understand why a net absorption of 400,000 sf of office space is a death knell to downtown.
From the way the Chronicle talks about it, you'd think it was the end. I didn't realize they were moving into the Enron building. I would've researched it more, but I got busy and I just saw it in the headline this morning.

Your ideas intrigue me and I wish to subscribe to your newsletter. When do your plan for the rennovations to begin, InnerLoop?

ING sold out the Heritage tower and the adjacent land. The new owner will build a parking garage on the land. ING previously stated that it had plans of building a highrise residential tower.
Repost of this.

Houston is declining, declining. Damn, I'm really afraid now.
I'm terrified. I'm in the energy business.
ChevronTexaco is a huge player. If they pull out of Houston and go some place else, what does that say to the rest of the gas business? ... After this year, I'm not moving back to the East Coast, I don't care how "close everything is."
-
Looks like Heritage might actually house some new companies now. I hope someone moves in, I'd hate to just see it sit empty. It's a beautiful building.
From the article:
"Atlanta-based Goddard Investment Group on Wednesday purchased the 53-story tower and two acres of adjacent land for between $125 million and $130 million, according to sources. The sale coincides with its largest tenant vacating nearly half of the space in the 1.15 million-square-foot property. That will leave it about 70 percent vacant by year's end."
