  1. the business model is to keep the payroll as low as possible and get the shared TV and merchandising revenue from the league. If the AAstros win a few games, it's a bonus. The AAstros have a history of trading away the best players on the team and getting Mark Lemongellos in hopes of building something, which never works out. I'm surprised that Biggio and Bagwell were on the team as long as they were! The AAstros are a schedule filling team, always have been, always will be.
  2. no, there's a Dumpster for two restaurants on one block, a Dumpster for two restaurants on another block, and a loading area blocked by the stupidest tree in Houston.
  3. under 40? hah... I could drink when I turned 19 in 1983, so, it would be people under 55 who don't remember those dark old days... LOL
  4. yes, it is, that's why we call them VIDIOTS...
  5. took these Friday while hanging out with our old guitar tech at the back door to Warehouse Live
  6. how many units are in the complex that is being torn down? full discosure... I grew up off of Bissonnet- the far west end of it... LOL
  7. oh, cool, 1970 Fiat Spider in that picture
  8. ok, let's see,. there's a 75ish Chevy, and a 1970 Fiat Spider in that picture, so, I'd say it's right about when they tore down one of the old movie theaters that used to be on that block (Isis Theater maybe?)
  9. bummer- I went looking for the shrimp with the six shooters on my way out to my mom's house the other day. They are not there anymore!
  10. Tin Hall opened in the 1890's, and was the only gathering place for people in that area. It was rebuilt a few times (all wooden structure on stilts). we did a few shows there in the 1990's- I don't even know if the structure is still there (if not, good riddance, i hated that place)
  11. the shrimp with the 6 shooters live in Richmond now, still on Alt 90, just east of the Brazos River bridge
  12. do people even care enough about soccer to be hooligans here?
  13. Dairy Ashford was called Stiles Rd south of the DA/W Bellfort intersection. It was a dirt road until the mid/late 70's. In the mid 80's, they added in the curve that took it to the Spur 41 intersection with Alt 90, closed the railroad crossing and alt 90 intersection, and renamed the section of Stiles to Dairy Ashford, leaving just the end of Stiles where a few houses were/might still be. A few years later, they widened the road to it's current configuration. I took that road every day going to school at the D-Word.
  14. If by mixuse projects you mean parking lots, then, yes. I'd like to see more midrise apartments in the area- that will give that rail station more reason to exist!
  15. Construction has started on the St Agnes athletic facility where the Gillman dealerships used to be. So far, there's just trenches dug for plumbing, drainage/sewage
  16. here's one from today.... it will be finished by the end of the month, if not sooner
  17. nope.... not getting into a weewee measuring contest here.... I worked at Cardi's from '85 to when it shut down on 2.28.87. Fool's Gold moved out west, Cardi's took over the slot.
  18. Fool's Gold was at Fountainview, and became Cardi's. they moved it out west somewhere (dairy ashford, maybe?)
