  1. You have to see it in person. Besides I was driving, no time for pictures when you're merging lanes in traffic.
  2. I had to go to the airport recently but noticed on the way there and back that the Museum District/Binz actually has a decent sized skyline for itself that will continue to get taller and larger with projects like these. I never bothered noticing the towers in Museum District before but all these buildings are bringing everything together.
  3. I just want to point out an observation from the rendering. Look at the building on the right. It gets 9 stories easily and keeps going until the picture cuts it off where as the multifamily next to it is 8 definitely. In between is a car entrance and a building connector. They will probably build in phases and release renderings for each part subsequently after one another.
  4. Look for this area to start becoming a condo/apartment canyon on Westheimer in Houston. Like condo canyon on Wilshire in LA.
  5. It could just be for parking and a long term investment. They could just put parking here instead of building a tower with a parking podium. Wasn't a podium in their plan for the Chevron Tower?
  6. Everybody chill. It's getting built. Who cares if it's not the new tallest? Even 700-800 feet is great. Houston has 2 supertalls already. I think we're good in that department for a few more years. Right now there's a lot of activity, lots of infill. Lots of depth. Great cities don't need supertalls to be great, look at Paris and Tokyo. Two of the very best in the world.
  7. Chevron will build downtown. While nothing is set in stone, Chevron had its plans made long ago about where they'll expand to. As for the rumors of this being 60 floors, it's possible but why wait until last minute to modify? We already know they have their eyes on more property in downtown where they will build another tower in the future. BTW at this point Houston metro is big enough where companies like Chevron will have multiple sights for their work. The Woodlands rumor doesn't detract from their downtown plans I'd imagine.
  8. No that doesn't look like the formerly proposed Ritz Carlton at BLVD Place. That building had beige colors on the outside, turquoise on the inside and it's entire design was straight as a line. This building back there gets narrower as you go up. It's not a straight design and doesn't look like the Ritz either. It's probably an office tower for something. Is BLVD Place located behind BBVA Compass? If it is, then that building COULD just be the Apache Tower OR the second office building BLVD Place has visioned for its development.
  9. I like this project. Reminds me of my home country. Shopping at the bottom; restaurants, hair salons, local news paper on 2nd level, businesses and offices on 3rd levels; and condos, hotels, apartments on higher levels.
  10. Oliver McMillan concepted the River Oaks District to be Houston's Rodeo Drive. I think Westheimer with the the help of Highland Park, River Oaks District, Mid Lane, Highline/Westcreek, West Avenue, and several other works will be Houston's version of Wilshire Boulevard in Los Angeles. I think Neartown/Allen Parkway is quickly becoming Houston's Condo Canyon, which is where Regent Square is. As for the Galleria, they'll always have their advantages, even with the new competition. The guys managing the Galleria know, that's why they've proses making it into more of a mixed use mall. With the new residential tower of 300 units and reconstruction and renovations of Galleria III. The Galleria's advantages are most apparent on freak weather days, it is what it is. I like the variety in shopping that Uptown will have soon.
  11. Every November, I become disappointed in Houston. Last November it was transit.
  12. What building is this? It's huge. Did it get cancelled or is it still proposed?
  13. 300 Meters or 1,000 feet. Houston wont ever get anything of that height (or greater) ever again.
  14. Awesome infill. swstig, I have a question: Is there any hope for the surface lot situation in downtown? Will they ever stop tearing down existing (historic) buildings and start covering the lots?
  15. I know that there are several people here with knowledge to developments and the like but is this ever going to happen? If not, will there at least be any 900 footers or so? I know Houston has space to infill and grow outward but still just a thought.
  16. From now to 2020, how much traffic increase should we be expecting at IAH? It's no secret that either this year or the next Beijing will surpass Atlanta as the world's busiest airport but how's the future look for IAH? Are we going to start closing the gap between us and O'Hare/LAX or will it just remain the same?
  17. Cant remember exactly but I believe 600,000 square feet of office space is about the same size as Main Place/BG Group Place tower that recently finished in Downtown Houston. Either BG Group Place or Hess/Discovery Tower, one of them.
  18. The best of the dead definitely have to be Jennings Island, Water Lights District, and City Centre Tower. One of my personal favorites was Titan for Uptown but even though I liked the design it wasn't anything special that cant happen some other time down the road. Things like or of similar caliber as Endeavor Parkside will come again but those projects were all very altering for their setting and the city. By the way, its a shame for some of those projects that Galveston never got to see. They've made developments like these very difficult to build on the island but do is it possible that the coastal areas of Brazoria County ever get these type of developments further (and I mean much further, like 10 or 15 years) down the road? There's no interstate access down that way but there's a lot of potential there that can spurt at any given point.
  19. You know, I have to be honest every time I view the renderings for this project I get it mixed up with the one Skansha is planning. They look similar, same exterior facade, about the same size and big boxy buildings for Uptown. Doesn't help that both have the same address/name with xxxx Post Oak. I cant complain though, I prefer to see things fill up, especially in Uptown.
  20. By the renderings, I really like the design for these apartments. The color scheme on the exterior is my favorite part, oh and yeah its needed infill!
