I can see East Downtown being transformed more into another identity than Third Ward. East Downtown is virtually empty and needs some filling and life badly. I hope Houston will definitely take care of this area, truly transforming it into an urban haven.

I feel like going to the empty downtown/midtown/east end lots and screaming
"You get a tower, you get a tower, you get a tower, and YOU GET A TOWER!!!"
Then i froth at the mouth and collapse from excitement.
I'm so weak!!!

It is going to be built.
Edit; but only because you wanted me to say that
When?!

Please tell me that this is going to get built.

Why won't it happen?

Why is it ghost town? Is it because it's not fully opened?

This tower is so Atlanta and Charlotte! I love it!

I hope the 40 story apt tower gets built because all of these new towers and mid-rises will compliment each other and the baseball stadium well.

That is the Alexan City Centre which is under construction will be 7 stories.
I do believe they will expand further east as those properties become available. I remember reading in a article when they released the renderings for phase 3 that they are always actively looking for room for expansion.
Yaaaaaaaas! I love CityCentre! An expansion east would be something to write about. I would include some of the existing restaurants and retailers like Pappadeax, Pappasitos, and Bed Bath & Beyond from the current shopping centers in the newly expanded areas. I think having more popular mainstream stores and restaurants will give CityCentre even more life.

What about the 40 story apt tower near this site?

I love it. When is it supposed to break ground?

I love how they can see through the oil downturn. They specifically mention that as the oil rebounds, they development would open in 2017... plus Houston is diversified...
It would be nice if everyone could see through the fog so well.
Exactly! People ditch Houston when oil prices fall. It's not fair to the other industries that add growth to the population and economy.
I am glad that some developers are ignoring the downturn.

I think he is saying Fairfield Residential is the developer, not the name of the development:
I know, but the name of the developer screams wrap around. LOL. It's fine with me either way.

Fairfield Residential
Sounds like a wrap around.
