  1. Looking for an architect recommendation for a residential project who can capture the Heights historical sensibility. Thank you.
  2. Thank you for the feedback. The mail box was stolen while we were at work. The two phone book packages were identical and delivered on Tuesday. We alerted our neighbors in case someone is working the area.
  3. FYI... Our front porch antique mail box was stolen yesterday afternoon (3/23/10). Unfortunately, the mail box contained the daily mail as well. The mail box was heavy and bulky. We are counting our blessings they did not get into the house (protected by alarm) or garage (always locked). One thing that did not make sense, we found a 2nd package of the recent phone book directory in the back yard with the gate being left opened. We think it might of been a ruse by the perpetrator(s) to gain access to the back yard. We filed a police report and bought a cheap mail box.
  4. Does anyone have information on this new establishment in the works?

I am glad this new restaurant is booming. Just be careful driving in the area. It tends to get congested with vehicles parking on the street shoulders. It makes it difficult to see who is flying up & down on 19th / 20th Street. I had a close call last Thursday evening (crossing 19th from Beall Street).
  6. Place a visible dog park rules sign and designate a trash can plus a poop bag dispenser. I take my dog to the Danny Jackson Dog park and most people follow the posted rules.
  7. With business expected to weaken further in 2009, the company said it will cut 5,000 jobs, or nearly 6 percent of its 84,000-strong global work force. Earlier this month, Schlumberger said it would cut up to 1,000 of its 19,000 North American employees, including up to 100 of its 5,000 jobs in the Houston area. But before today it had not provided details about cuts in international regions. http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/headli...iz/6226469.html
  8. Schlumberger on Friday signaled more tough times ahead for the hard-hit oil drilling sector on top of its 17% drop in fourth-quarter net income. "The company confirmed it's taking actions to reduce its global workforce, and held out the possibility of more cuts this year." http://www.marketwatch.com/news/story/oil-...t=TQP_Mod_mktwN
  9. Has anyone tried this gun range? Memorial Shooting Center http://www.chlhoustontx.com/Home.html
  10. Java Java - 3 strikes ( poor service and quality of food ) Glass Wall The Restaurant - 2 strikes ( quality was there but poor preparation )
  11. Bummer...I was hoping it would take off but it had a lot of short-comings as mentioned by other folks. I stopped by several times...tried the sandwiches and coffee (good but pricey). I do remember and appreciate them opening immediately after Hurricane Ike and making an effort to provide hot coffee and food.
  12. We could round them up and have a yearly "Heights Grocery Cart Derby" off Heights Blvd. We could have teams representing the local neighborhoods, i.e., Houston Heights, Woodland Heights, Sunset Heights, etc. Of course, any monies from donations or fees go to designated charities.
  13. Is it me or does the Heights area have a problem with abandoned grocery carts outside apartments, on sidewalks and in ditches? Is it considered a theft (misdemeanor) in Houston with the removal of a cart from the premises? IMHO...stray carts become a public safety issue suggesting that signs of neighborhood deterioration, if not promptly addressed, will lead to further decay, crime and loss of security.
  14. "Halliburton Co. also said it would begin laying off workers but didn't say how many or when." http://biz.yahoo.com/ap/090108/oil_industr..._cuts.html?.v=2
  15. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Ms. Sasha's appearance has changed dramatically over the years. The question is...Are these changes voluntary or part of the business (pressure to always look good). There is a fine line that gets crossed and there is no turning back. $Ref: http://omg.yahoo.com/news/lisa-rinna-i-loo...urgery/17290?nc
