A few snippets of one of the all-time great moments in local television - oddly enough on KPRC's TikTok but not elsewhere.

Also oddly enough, it was 1987 - not 1991 as the clip mentions.

I know, crazy of me to expect the station to get something tied to their own content correct.

From what I recall reading in the Post article on the event from Ken Hoffman, it was basically Ron Stone trying to juggle both news and weather while there were some technical issues taking place throughout the whole newscast. I'd still love to see the whole thing.

NBC 2 KPRC-TV Houston has their own official TikTok account ?

  2. Looks like "health concerns" caused Kubosh to dropping out of the Houston City Controller election.

Former Harris County Treasurer Orlando Sanchez (R) & Chris Hollins (D) are running for this position.

  3. Former Houston City Councilwoman Amanda Edwards dropped out of the Mayoral contest; running for Congress to represent TX-18 in 2024.

Edwards taking a huge risk here unless she's got inside information about SJL winning the Mayoralty 🤔

If memory serves me correctly, Chicago & NYC are the only Big Cities with large City Council seats right ? 🤔

I remember vaguely that Mayor Turner and Houston First were trying to get a theme park into our city since we're the only major city without one. Well, Therme Group is European wellness theme park that is looking to expand into the US. It just worked with city officials in DC to open their first US location there. The company has also been looking at Dallas and LA. Feel like we will be left out.....again. This project would be a good fit for Houston, especially since its mainly caters towards adults and specifically for "wellness." We were recently named one of the most stressed cities in the nation 😂

I'm going to email the mayor and Houston first......is there anyone in particular that I can get to look into this?

End of an era, indeed. Berman's the last of that generation of local sportscasters, and hopefully will enjoy a well-deserved retirement.

As an aside, after reading that tweet I can't help wondering if GM D'Artagnan Bebel has three brothers named Athos, Porthos, and Aramis.

Any chance Nate Griffin gets the job replacing Berman ?

  7. Howdy HAIF Family. Here's a newly-created Discussion Mega-Thread on the No. 1 TV News station in the Lone Star State: ABC 13 KTRK-TV Houston.

We get right off the bat with news that Elyse Smith will be joining ABC 13 KTRK-TV Houston. According to Alan Pergament of the Buffalo News, ABC 13 hadn't told the person that Smith is replacing the person in question which brings a guessing game on which one of the meteorologists is likely heading for the exits.

Mike McGuff of mikemcguff.com, has asked the audience & multiple sources & Houston TV viewers, who are very good detective sleuths, had let him know that Smith was joining the ABC 13 Weather Department.

    Smith's Twitter post:

Big question: which one of the meteorologists is leaving ABC 13 KTRK-TV Houston with Smith likely taking their job ?

A.) Elita Loresca: She's been with the ABC O&O Station since 2015

B.) David Tillman: He's been at ABC 13 since September 2000

    C.) Rachel Briers

    D.) Kevin Roth

We all know Chief Meteorologist Travis Herzog is NOT going anywhere anytime soon.

  8. BREAKING NEWS: JOSE GRINAN RETIRING FROM FOX 26 KRIV-TV HOUSTON AFTER 30 YEARS AT THE END OF NEXT MONTH

We knew this was bound to happen one way or another, but after 30 years, Weekday Morning anchor Jose Grinan will be retiring from the Fox O&O Station effective at the end of next month.

Big question is who'll replace Grinan on Weekday Mornings ? Will they go inside Fox 26 & find an easy replacement OR will they go outside of Houston & TX by looking nationwide ?

The state's Film Commission has a program for "Film Friendly" communities and the Music Office has a similar program for "Music Friendly" communities. Both of these programs look to grow the amount of business related to either industry for a given certified community.

Wanted to start the thread after seeing Rosenberg had just been certified on the film side. The Houston metro's representation is more than I expected, but not nearly as visible as the whole of the I-35 corridor cities regarding the film designation, and there are far fewer across the board on the music side.
