  1. A little late, but I got an email today from BAR Houston thanking their patrons for the past 4 years (it closed in August). Also in the e-mail was this: "Michael Paolucci (formerly of BAR Houston) and Blini Hoxha have teamed up to bring you Pub Fiction, a Midtown Pub scheduled to open in February of 2005. This will be a bar and restaurant for all occasions. Upscale lounge and grill featuring Sports, Live Music, DJ, Large patios, Happy Hours and much more. If you would like an invite to the grand opening, please sign up at www.PubFiction.com!" Has anyone else heard anything about this? Any idea where they might put it? I did talk to the Gen Manager of Copa Room in July, and he said then that they were going to put a sports bar/live music venue on the 4th corner of that complex sometime soon. I'm wondering if this is what he was talking about. ?? Anyways, more businesses to Midtown, yay!
  2. Does anyone know if the Sidelines sports bar inside 2016 Main closed? I tried to take some friends there on Saturday @ 6 PM and it was closed! Doors locked, no sign. The hours posted outside indicated they should be open. Their website says nothing. Just wondering... Ended up at the Wet Spot, down the street on West Gray... that place is pretty cool!!
  3. Bar Houston shut down at the end of August. This was the note on their website: "We have chosen to not renew our lease. We decided to go out on top... Thank you for a great great 4 years! " Have a Nice Day shut down over 1.5 years ago (but they never took down the sign outside). The space became part of Bar Houston and was renamed "Whiskey Chicks." (It's closed now too) I hope some good bars/clubs will move in there so that it attracts more people. I think some more "upscale" nightclubs, maybe jazz-type would be good and perhaps attract the theater crowd (kind of like what Cotton Exchange tried to do). The whole Bayou Place center is not doing well, from what I've heard. Hard Rock is the only place that is doing ok, but only because it gets the spillover crowd from Aquarium. I love Bayou Place, but it needs something.
