  1. Actually this is the result of value engineering. Otherwise we would have gotten James Corner's original design. Maybe the lesson is actually start with best project you possibly can so it stays impressive *even after* being value engineered.
  2. I can live with it at this location.
  3. With the little peaks they're showing into the windows it looks like at least 8 units. This is such a fantastic scale. That's my biggest disappointment with the livable places/multi-unit residential platting update ordinance - the 30' height limit. Hug improvement over the current 2unit limit, but id love to see these little 5 story guys made as easy to develop as possible.
  4. Hmmm. These are some of the best late mid-century apartments in this part of town. I have a bad feeling anything replacing them will be worse.
  5. Ugh what a stupid mess. This should all have been clear when the agreement was made, and airing it in public like this is a *bad* sign.
  6. Eh, anything would be better than the "decorative" nonsense that's there now. Close the tiny bit of street that separates it from the apartments/restraurant and make it a usable space. Paving, seating, more trees...
  7. I actually don't mind the small block staying a lawn. Not generally a fan of green space for its own sake, but this is well placed and a nice size.
  8. Why do I feel like they've done this poorly and are just going to dump runoff into the house's foundation.
  9. People are afraid of house parties. Perhaps Montrose really is dead.
  10. I don't live in the suburbs. I don't live in Houston either currently but I lived on Stanford (among other places) for a while. I have immediate family and close friends in Montrose and Rice Military so I'm in town quite frequently. The details definitely matter here, but there basically are none in that article. Is your opposition to this specific person, or to the general idea of short term rentals?
  11. To be fair, I hate that they tore down the existing triplex/fourplex. Hopefully it will be replaced with something bigger at least, but now they have to add off-street parking somewhere.
  12. Um, based on the information above I'm inclined to support this project. Dedicated short-term rental/ quasi-hotel options are super useful in Montrose.
  13. Luckily Metro is planning to fix at least that problem - the green/purple tracks will become transit only as part of the Inner Katy BRT project.
  14. They should replace one of the parking lots with a fenced dog park.
  15. Unless they plan on using those houses as additional businesses... I hate them. Stop tearing things down for parking!
  16. Elevators - ooh la la. Fancy. I don't mind the aesthetic though.
  17. It was a huge missed opportunity when they tore down half of the original campus to replace it with... low density garden apartments, but uglier.
  18. Not really. Is it all of them or any specific ones that are confusing? I will say I think a second lane always makes a roundabout a bit more confusing and stressful. This one isn't too bad, but I do think the inside westbound lane when turning right from Washington is a little confusing. Can you continue into the turn or do you have to continue through the roundabout from that lane?
