  1. Downtown was amazing this weekend. Walking around the Discovery Green area and Main St/Market Square Park area Friday and Saturday night was unbelievable. The atmosphere was amazing and all of the out of towners I talked to said how much they enjoyed Houston.
  2. Just saw on their FB page that residents have started moving in. https://www.facebook.com/MidMainLofts/ Day and Night picture of their sign
  3. Simply Amazing how much this part of downtown has grown over the past 30 years. Thanks for the pics!
  4. According to the property manager, the restaurants open on Thursday! When I walked by there were a bunch of people in both finishing up and all of the tables and furniture were in place. The wiring around Potente is in place for vines to grow around. http://www.papercitymag.com/culture/astros-owner-jim-crane-restaurants-houston-potente-osso-kristlla-chef-dream-team/
  5. Brasserie Du Parc is open for business. More pictures in the link below. http://houston.eater.com/2017/1/30/14436692/houston-brasserie-du-parc-opening-photos
  6. "That's because Brasserie du Parc – a new French bistro from the owners of Etoile Cuisine et Bar – is due to open in a tres chic outpost on the northern lip of Discovery Green at the base of One Park Place tower. Monday Jan. 30 is the day chef Philippe Verpiand and his wife and business partner, Monica Bui, plan to open their restaurant with its walk-up window for crepes called Creperie du Parc. And just in time to catch the hordes of out-of-towners expected to take in all the Super Bowl action at Discovery Green and George R. Brown Convention Center." http://www.chron.com/entertainment/restaurants-bars/article/First-look-Brasserie-du-Parc-10887314.php
  7. Xochi is ready to rock and roll. Sorry for not getting a closeup but the interior looks really nice. I walked by on my way to McAlister's Deli and saw Hugo Ortega sitting on the patio so I asked when would they be open and he told me Saturday. Nice guy.
  8. Just drove by this and saw a bunch of people inside sitting down and looked like they were training.
  9. Yep, plus the new high rise with retail going up across Main St from the park. Good times for Midtown indeed.
  10. From the pic above it looks like Brasserie Du Parc at One Park Place is almost ready as well. The CNN article featuring it says it will be open in time for the Super Bowl. Everything is coming together!
  11. I had a feeling they would move. Midtown Park just doesn't seem ready.
  12. CNN has an article and video about Brasserie du Parc and the exploding Houston restaurant scene. The nation is taking notice! "Do yourself a favor and, for a moment, put aside what you think you know about Houston. Despite what may come to mind -- cowboys, oil tycoons, urban sprawl -- Houston has emerged as a culinary powerhouse, attracting top kitchen talent from around the world. And with 140,000 out-of-towners expected for the Super Bowl in February, the city is ready to impress. Critics have already taken notice: The New York Times last year called Houston "one of the great eating capitals of America," The Washington Post listed the area as one of the nation's best food cities and the Bayou City recently welcomed Anthony Bourdain and his film crew for an episode of CNN's "Parts Unknown."" http://www.cnn.com/2017/01/17/foodanddrink/houston-restaurants-philippe-verpiand-brasserie/
  13. I keep forgetting about this thing. Maybe it'll be open in time for the next Super Bowl...
  14. Pappadeaux sign is up. The article doesn't say when it will open though. "With just over three weeks until Super Bowl LI, progress continues on upcoming Avenida Houston Restaurants, as the Pappadeaux Seafood sign rises on the south end of the George R. Brown Convention Center. The restaurant's title is well known to Houstonians, as part of the Pappas restaurant portfolio. With fresh seafood options, the location will go well with the already-opened options along Avenida Plaza and in the various hotels. Guests can find the restaurant at the south-end of the convention center, across from the Hilton Americas-Houston on Avenida de las Americas." https://www.avenidahouston.com/articles/post/pappadeaux-signage-rises/
  15. McAlister's Deli to open January 23rd. https://www.facebook.com/McDeliHtown/
  16. Finally made it to this hotel last night. First, I went to Grotto for Happy Hour, which was awesome, then went over to Biggio's for a few hours and walked through the hotel. I also saw Tilman Fertitta hanging out at Biggio's and he was commenting on how Grotto turned out really well (He owns it). This whole area has a completely different vibe and feel to it now which is just amazing compared to what it was a few short years ago. I'm planning on going to Biggio's for the Texan's game Saturday and sitting in one of the upstairs booth areas.
  17. Yea i wish they would hurry and finish the restaurants. They told us late summer the day I moved in, then October...November...December... The most frustrating thing is the utilities for the restaurants must not have colluded with the building of the apartments as they have went back and ripped up the sidewalk by the parking garage a couple months ago to install gas lines and CenterPoint is constantly disrupting the power in the entire complex to install generators ect for the restaurants. The power goes out at least once a week. A few weeks ago they were installing a generator near the parking garage entrance and caused a fire knocking out power in the entire complex for the whole weekend so 500 Crawford paid for hotels at the Westin and Hilton Americas for residents to stay and then gave everyone $50 HEB gift cards for groceries. As I type this, the power has already went out twice today..... pretty frustrating...
  18. Just went jogging through this area....wow. This will be HUGE for downtown Houston once all of the restaraunts are open. There is also lots of buzz around the Marriott Marquis as it opens today and saw a bunch of suits inside Biggio's for some sort of meeting I supposed. Can't wait to check it out.
  19. Yea this picture reminds me of an old motel or something. Oh well, nice addition to the area!
