  1. Flight attendants ( Female ) are also there to look pretty, and provide alcoholic beverages. I personally carry an I.V. bag, marked as, "D5W", but filled with Weller's for short flights, and several of them for over seas flights. You can get them through airport security in your carry - on bags. I use the I.V. tube to run from the overhead compartment to my seat for convenience, and to spike the other passengers drinks around me. If you share, then they don't rat you out to the flight attendants. I don't eat any meals on planes. P.S. - I am a member of the Mile High, and the Mile Long clubs.
  2. Abatoire? "Abattoire" (sp) ... 2, T's ... Flinch! What's all the hype over eating on flights? We should discuss the drinking on flights if you want a qantius aforbius! So, who's against a Bloody Mary on lift-off? Brings another question ... what is the plural of Bloody Mary? ... Flinch? Drunk ! ... got to go ... almost missed my flight!!!
  3. What do you call El Franco Lee? .... "El"? ...very strange name.
  4. Crunch, What year was it again that you got fired from Finger's? Whoa! Don't turn your gun this way...just kidding! Lol...
  5. Sounds like a really good time, and Happy 75th Birthday to whom ever! You know that in India, we do not eat red meat...But I came here over 25 years ago ( Legally I might add ) to be a Texan, and enjoy the American Way. My family and I have adapted well, and yes, the bar-b-q sounds delicious. Shiner Bock is very good beer! So, in my book you're excused. See you at the next party!
  6. Rusty B: Great photography, and good crowd. Thanks for posting one with me in it!! Probably surprised a lot of people... but I never said I didn't play soccer - I just said I didn't like some of the fan violence. Lol! Great location!
  7. Little, I don't get it! Do you know how many 75th birthday parties I've been to recently? ...Sheeesh, you can make one of these three or four times a week - BUT, a soccer stadium in your own neighborhood? Now, that's something special, so make it a priority, be a good neighbor, and help bring it home.
  8. As Ashley, or Finger? Who is Rodney, and why would he be running Ashley? Very confusing...when is the announcement expected?
  9. Ah, Red...you're still mad because I haven't bought you that drink I promised. I will, herewith, and herein ( Legal jargon, just for you ) , admit that there are no Hooligans, and Thugs in soccer. That's just a fairy tale, and I was trying to fake everyone out. And, my personal experience as a participant in sports for over 40 years means nothing... I'm the Helen Keller of sports. Now...let's lighten up, and enjoy the video: http://www.metacafe....occer_hooligans You've changed my mind - Bring it on, and let's support the Dynamo!
  10. Are you denying that soccer promotes violence World-wide? Have you been to the games Worldwide, as I have? The date on the article is not important, as the evidence it reveals is timeless, and still relevant. Red, you know that the point of my article was that soccer is not widely appreciated in the U.S., is notorious for violence, and I don't see any part of Houston jumping forward and yelling, " We have to have the Dynamo here"!!! Please note my contradictory statements: ___________________________________________________________?
  11. N, Thanks for asking. I became an American Citizen ( The legal way ) 25 years ago. I brought my family here, as I feel this is the very best civilization in World history. I studied, and deeply admire all the founders. As I have stated in this thread I participated in professional sports ( Mainly track & field events ) all over the World as a young man, and my children are active currently. Let me state my observations another way: I don't see any area jumping up, and begging the soccer franchise to come their way. I see all the politicians avoiding this like the plague. Which is strange to me, because the business model is something I cannot deny, has merit, and promise. If no one is courting you, then you must be rejected. I have stated many times, that if the voters approve the soccer stadium, and it's location, etc. - then go for it, and I'll be happy. I just don't see the olive branches extended for the soccer proponents. I want to merely discuss, and project opinions, and observations. I respect, and appreciate your views.
  12. Stan, Not sure where you're getting your info, but the violence is heating up in soccer stadiums across the World! Small example: LONDON (AP) -- With only three weeks before the World Cup, fears of hooliganism have increased following a weekend of soccer violence in Italy, the Netherlands and England. The worst of the trouble was at Bergamo, Italy, where fans of home team Atalanta forced a 12-minute suspension of a first division game Sunday by breaking a wall in the stands and throwing objects onto the field. Police intervened to control the unruly spectators and fired tear gas into the stands. In London, after Arsenal's 2-0 win Saturday over Newcastle in The Football Association Cup final, drunken Gunners fans threw bottles at police, set fire to a car and trashed shop windows. Thirty-eight were arrested. Sunday's Amstel Cup final in Rotterdam's De Kuip Stadium started three hours early because of fears of crowd trouble. Police made 70 arrests after fighting broke out, including between rival fans who bought tickets for the same section. In Argentina, violence caused a judge to indefinitely suspend play in the pro soccer leagues. Two people were shot a half hour before the first-division match between Independiente and River Plate, and scuffles and rock-throwing broke out between fans of Estudiantes and coaches and fans of Lanus. The brawling lasted 90 minutes despite the presence of more than 320 police officers I don't think there is a ground-swell of interest in this game in Texas period. Let's take a vote, to be fair - Everyone who really wants soccer, and is going to attend, or watch the games, and be a fan, please tell me I'm wrong. I believe that Eado could be developed to greater value without this stadium deal. There is a better idea out there.
  13. Yo! Crunch! You're my kind of gal - well said, and like a Martini - straight-up!
  14. The last I heard from one of the managers, there is another large furniture chain that bought the remaining inventory, and will be open at that location. I can't remember the name of the new chain, but it wasn't Star.
  15. You must believe! हाथी को मारता है RUSTY!!!....RUSTY!!!! NOOOOO!!!! If only we would have built the stadium....ahhh....
  16. Rusty, Let the cat read it, and then update us! BTW, In India we don't cut brake lines, we get the ceremonial elephant to step on you...yes, and your cat. They are specially trained to do that... अच्छा
  17. Red is right-on dude! Reading comprehension: F
  18. I agree with your friends. I believe the Dynamo would be better placed in Pearland, and the jail moved closer to the Harris County Jail Complex.
  19. I agree Niche. In my search to launch a Texas themed restaurant / club downtown, I was directed to the Downtown Redevelopment Group, who were really agressive with incentives. The GHCVB is very active in these types of projects as well. Mine was a small scope plan, but I can see KBR getting courted heavily, including arm twisting, and ....pthhhh!...Golf!(Puke). I think it's a good call for the city, as well as KBR. They really need to stay close to the convention center.
  20. I just saw a T.V. special on 13 last night about the square. The plans, and story are on the Channel 13 website. The part I liked is the historical area, and the WiFi area. I love downtown at night, not doing anything really, just hanging out. This would be perfect for that. Hopefully, they'll police it well, as I have had problems with panhandlers, and mental homeless - types. Looks super though!
  21. What is the advantage of the East end? Is the folly really just politicians in a power war, or is the location critical for other reasons? The business end sounds really good. Just curious to get the insider opinion.
  22. I appreciate your post, and it caused me to reconsider, and really look at the issue. On attendance - I stand corrected, and thank you: Attendances Record home attendance: 70,550 v Los Angeles Galaxy at Reliant Stadium[3], 2006 Major League Soccer season, 9 August 2006Record home attendance at Robertson Stadium: 30,972 v Kansas City Wizards, 2007 MLS Cup Playoffs, 10 November 2007Record away attendance: 30,000 v Club de Futbol Pachuca at Estadio Hidalgo, 2007 CONCACAF Champions Cup, 5 April 2007Record League attendance at a neutral site: 39,859 v New England Revolution at RFK Stadium, 2007 MLS Cup, 18 November 2007My false supposition is probably rooted in my strong dislike of the conduct at the games ( Lived in Europe ). Violence seems to be the thread that attracts. I've been in sports all of my life in several countries, and soccer I steer clear of. I know there are fans, and players who are out of control in any competitive sport, however soccer, worldwide needs some heavy policing. I will honor what the voters will. I do admit the deal they are proposing has solid business sense.
  23. I found your post on the book, and will buy a copy. I remember Mr. Remmert, as he always worked on our cars. A very nice man. Thank you for the info.
  24. There has never been this many soccer fans at a game except in Europe, or South America. Tax payers are going to get stuck for another," Astrodome Expansion" extortion illusion. Local Houstonians do not support soccer, or a stadium for it. I say put it to a vote, and show the fat-cat Dynamo owners that we are wary of the, " Bud Adams " syndrome in Houston. Stick with what you got, or find a city that wants this stuff. Put it to a vote...
  25. Remmert's Garage was on the side of the gas station where he repaired cars. I believe he co-leased it ??
