Any Idea if they have chosen an Architect yet? I heard Morris was working on the conceptual design but that they may change as they move into DD.

I think that one of the problems is that there are three seperate topics out there that, from what I can tell, are all bout the same project. BBVA, The Perennial, and 2200 Post Oak. Put them together and you probably have 3 pages worth.

3009 Post Oak: Office Building At 3009 Post Oak Blvd.
Lighter replied to swtsig's topic in Uptown and Galleria Area
The following was the tweet by @SkanskaUSA that I recieved in response to an inquiry asking what was the status this development: "@tcapp0 Drawings are complete and we'll be in the permitting process shortly on the 3009 Post Oak development. We can't wait!" Sometimes all you have to do is ask.- 189 replies

This topic should be merged with the 2200 Post Oak topic.

I am not sure of any of the details. I just heard that an office project at this address was in the works with funding and a teneant in place. The people that I talked to were being all 007 about it.

I am hearing some rumbling rumors that something going to start on this site soon. Could be wishful thinking, but the rumor mill says that it has financing and a tenant. Does anyone have anything to add to the rumor mill?

I haven't heard anything like that at all. I got the Klein newsletter in the mail this weekend and there were 2 pages of information about budget cuts and nothing was mentioned about selling any land. They saw this coming and have been preparing for it for quite some time. Also, I can tell you that there is nothing on the land itself that indicates that it is up for sale.

Carnegie Vanguard High School At 1501 Taft St.
Lighter replied to VicMan's topic in Other Houston Neighborhoods
On the construction drawings this building is called the Settegast Building. I have to say that it is not much of a fine arts space. The theater is tiny compared to what most high schools have.- 104 replies

Lighter replied to VicMan's topic in Other Houston Neighborhoods
This job just had sub bids on 02/22/11. In the project documents it lists the start date as June 1 with a construction schedule of 15 months.- 104 replies

I heard about a week ago that this is at the city for permitting. Can anyone confirm that?- 189 replies

Five Oaks Place/Woodside: Office Tower At 1500 Post Oak Bvd.
Lighter replied to fernz's topic in Uptown and Galleria Area
I don't have anything concrete, but I got asked to do some budget work for a supposed 17 story or so tower in this area. They wouldn't tell me much beside that it was suppossedly in the same area, about 17 floors, funded, had a tenant and was moving forward very quickly. Probably a June Start. Sounds like it could be the same thing. How's that for speculation.- 594 replies

This should make for an interesting showdown. Lots of strong feelings and fat wallets.

I walked the job on 01/12/10 and I can tell you that there is still some work to be done. The GC is telling the owners that they are going to turn over the building on 10/25/10 but I can tell you that that is not going to happen. Even the owner had a little chuckle at that. It is coming along and they are realistically going to have a soft opening perhaps the first or second week of February and a grand reopening in time for Valentines Day. The issue is not that they need to put 1000 workers on the job. The issue is that they are crawling all over the place like ants on a blob of jelly. The painters can't paint till the millwork is done, the electrician can't trim out till the paint is done, the carpet cant be layed until the electricians are off their ladders, ect. ect. There are so many workers in there that they are tripping over each other. They lost a huge amount of time trying to save the facade I can also tell you that aproximately 60% of the staff is returning which is quite amazing when you think about the fact that it has been closed for so long. They layout is similar so it should seem familiar but updated. I for one can't wait to see it finished.

Probably. Most of the LED Xmas lights I have seen on the market are that bluish color. White LEDs are actually the most expensive LED's to produce. I am all about energy efficiency (selling energy effiecient products is my livelihood), but I sure do like the good old fashioned incandecent bulb when it comes to Xmas lights. It just looks right to me.
