i asked my mom about this, she graduated from aldine high in 1955, she was a senior the year the old high school burned down, anyhow she said the same story but with a little more info. she said that when the steam trains would pull into this station to get water for the engine and the conductor would call out all dine since they would be there a while and that the railroad eventualy named the stop as aldine. but like you said might be just a local story. i assume since they were getting water the trains were inbound to houston and that is why they needed water and probably was late in the day so supper time also.
