The use of epsilon and the teist on the W logo makes this look like an architecture student's project. Possibly a rendering of a "nice to have", but unlikely to be built project.

I am loving this project plus all the other stuff going on off of Main Street.
On a side note, does anyone have an update on the Midtown Superblock project or the Crosspoint Property development in Midtown with the Alamo Drafthouse? I haven't heard anything on those projects in quite a while. Are they still planned to be built?
Last I had heard, Alamo had decided to set up shop in regent square

So I guess nothing is brewing here huh?
I have no info either way, but my guess would be they are waiting for leases to expire?

Zone D Erotica has been there almost 10 years now right? When it first opened I never thought it would last this long. It makes the Galleria area look bad! What was there before this? Looks like a Pizza Hut.
It's gotten to a point where that place should be a historic landmark. If Houston were ever on TV it'd be right up there with Randy's Donuts in LA.

I wouldn't get too ahead of yourself. The web site also lists plans for 2101 Milam. I've seen the same concept drawing posted outside that building for about 5 years now.

Anyone know what is going in on the corner closest to the spur?

This thread hasn't been touched in awhile so I thought I'd report that there is finally something else going into the mix (no clue what it is). There have been construction crews working in the place (fairly large) next to the hair salon. Anyone have any info on what's coming?
Big signs out front for a pizza place called Piola. Looks like they are global:

I went to PSP a few weeks ago and wasn't impressed, but it was only one visit. The tap was messed up and giving off a bunch of foam, but instead of fixing or suggesting a different beer the bartender just kept letting the foam die down and pour some more. The Guinness tasted terrible as a result. The layout felt kind of like a shotgun house, thin with an exit on each end, and the prices were about average. I didn't try any food.
Also Yao's is dead as a doornail every time I go by. Andalucia and McCormick and Schmick's seem to be pulling in the business.
I went about a month ago. The food is decent. But it didn't strike me as anything better than what you'd find in a suburban Chinese restaurant.

Drove by last night. There's a city issued work permit on the door, but it doesn't look like anything has been done to the exterior or the balcony. Not sure if progress has been made on the interior.

I saw three or four people walking around the upper levels of the parking structure portion of the building today. They looked to be of the worker persuasion as opposed to the trespasser persuasion. Let's hope this is a sign that this project is coming back to life.
just saw several workers at a side entrance on the ground level. And by workers I means couple of dudes in hard hats.

I really hope there was a good reason for putting on that "slip cover"

I am assuming they're out. Hopefully work will begun more quicky than the Omni! What is up with that project (turning the old Sheraton Lincoln into an Omni)?
according to this story, it isn't happening...

Just saw a tweet...This is going to be open today for brunch.

Narrowing down the districts a bit, and took Main Street Corridor off...remaining possibilities appear to still be Historic District,Market Square,Skyline, and the Theater district within downtowns 1 mile radius...
Help me out...what are you talking about?

why was that old rendering posted?
To remind us how fortunate we are that it wasn't chosen as the final design?

Maybe the blue lights are Chanukah lights!
Aren't most of the blue lights actually energy saving LED lights?
-
seems the tabc approved her project but the city denied it so the beer garden is on hold.
Just got back from La Carafe. According to them, they are working with architects to find ways around the alley issue. Such a shame.

I would say that's doubtful.
This is going to be a multi-tenant building, so there is a good possibility it will be

Looks like work is being done to repair the restaurant that sits atop the Hyatt downtown. Anyone know if it is actually going to reopen?

Let's make 40 threads on this.
where are the others?

Per the attached article a new grocery store/cafe is opening downtown. Here's hoping they have a good business model. I'd hate to see it turn out like that grocery store that was at the bottom of Post Midtown.

Looking at the newer Savoy it's amazing to me the manner in which these buildings were abandoned. Electronic equipment, paperwork, etc, all left behind. It's as if they thought they'd be coming back or worse yet, they were trying to make a getaway.

There is more construction activity occurring at another store front at the Mix. Looks like they have more tenants moving in!
I just saw a sign saying that an Aveda store was moving into one of the smaller spaces.

Construction cam does a good job.

I really enjoy these buildings. They're different, and no, that's not a bad thing.
