    You get a real feel for Uptown's area in that photo, including just how much room there is for redevelopment. It would be cool if one of you really crafty graphics fiends could come up with a composite sketch of how the Uptown skyline would look with all the proposed projects (Turnberry, Cosmopolitan, Titan, River Oaks, High Street, etc, etc) built out.

    That seems quite ambitious for that section of land. Of course, it's hard to really get a feel for the scale since historically all we've had to go on was the lot to a car dealership. In any case, it certainly will be a volatile addition to that area of town.

    In all fairness, DT Denver really isn't that much busier than DT Houston. We're not talking about a complete ghost town of a CBD on weekends or nights but it certainly isn't where it was or where most of us hopes it will be.

    I don't know about crowds but those signs on all the buildings are more overbearing than the billboards along the North Freeway.

    If they're really concerned about the conditions of Bissonnet, they should fight to have the eastern most section repaved. Driving that thing in the condition that it's in is easily twice as troubling as any potential traffic from the new highrise.

    Same here. I especially like the Data East and Sega brands, not so much the Bally's, though. It really depends on the game.

    It's almost as if they waited around to see "what's in it" for them and then when it looked as if the answer would be "not much", they decided to align against it.

    That's quite impressive. I wonder how the funding is broken down... you know, percentage on acquisitions, maintenance, facility asthetics, etc.

    Looks like the beginnings of yet another new skyline in Houston. I noticed a couple of weeks ago that a lot--and I mean a LOT--of land was being cleared in that area on both sides of Clay Road. Perhaps this is the reason for it.

    After rallying from 25-points down in just one quarter, you gotta be able to defend the freaking field for the final 57 seconds if you want people to take you seriously. You gotta not just run with the receiver but you gotta knock the ball down. You gotta get a pass rush. You gotta do things that winning teams do. Not only did they allow the Titans to move the ball 60 yards in less than a minute (technically, less than 30 secons if you don't count the 20 or so seconds they allowed to run off the clock before they finally kicked the winning FB), but you allowed them to do it without having to spend a single timeout. In other words, you failed. Miserably. It's heartbreaking sure but it's really just a symptom of a bigger problem: not knowing how to win. Until that changes, you'll keep coming up short at best most times. There are notable and recognizable improvements on this team but they still have to learn how to win more consistently.

    I'm not certain about all the expansions but I do know that there are at least parts of both the University Line and the Southeast Line that will travel along a dedicated ROW near TSU/UH.

    ^^ I was thinking the same thing. It'd be nice of a condo tower was on that lot instead. How cool to live that close to TC and only need a couple minutes to walk to a game or concert.

    Speaking of Francis, it dawned on me last night while watching the game that this situation might be the best yet for him, because he's in an offense that doesn't ask him to "handle" the ball for long stretches, which is what killed him under both Rudy and Jeff Van Gundy (turnovers, dribbling off his foot, not getting the ball in the hands of the post guy soon enough, etc). Steve can improvise a lot more as it stands now and not have to worry as much about "running" the offense. The fact that it's a motion offense with the Princeton University philosphy of passing and cutting, screening and rolling, may be just what the doctor ordered. But even if I'm off on that, the Rockets are gettting some good work right now out of lot of people. It's just preseason and I hate to jinx things but... they look pretty good right now, for sure.

    If the Symphony finds it necessary to renovate Jones Hall further then fine. However, I'm of the camp that the Hall is a great old building, has lots of charm, and is as close to iconic of Houston's cultural landscape as anything out there. Renovate... sure. Replace... no. Hell no.
