  1. This may be the wrong area for this thread but..

While this may or may not fit your idea of the perfect luxurious destination hotel, you have to admit, the concept is an interesting one. In fact, the conceptual project won the Houston based architecture and design firm, Morris Architects, first prize at the Radical Innovation in Hospitality Awards. Perhaps best of all, you will not have to travel all the way to Dubai for your luxurious getaway, as Morris Architecture plans on using decommissioned oil rigs right here in the Gulf of Mexico for their high-end, self-sufficient, eco-friendly Oil Rig Resort and Spa.

"The challenge: Create a truly unique hospitality experience. Given Morris' commitment to environmental stewardship, our solution went beyond high-end design

  2. That sign's been there for eons. I remember seeing it last year when DG opened.

This is the one you saw last year, has been there since they tore down the Banquet Hall.

The pic I previously posted, that sign (thats looks exactly the same but on a different side of the parking lot) has been there for about two weeks.

Note:Toyota Center is in the background.

  3. I think its just a way to get people listening. Is the change 6am or pm? I thought it was pm? If its am it probably will be a Sam Malone Morning Show. At this point I don't think its a format change (though I wish it was to Hip Hop). They even have the puppy Cat Dolls coming on in the evening so that can't fool nobody saying they are changing formats.

6am. If anyone wants to save Hot95.7, please click the link and sign the petition.

  4. Well,

    Here we go again

On Thursday, March 26th, 2009 the station started running format change promos by the Station Manager. Dave Morales put the Station Manager on-air (unknown to him) to ask why...and what was going on. The station manager just passed the buck and blamed CBS management and could not provide further information. When he found out he was on-air he slammed down the phone. The changeover is supposed to take place at 6:00am Central time on Monday, March 30th, 2009. Although rumors say it will be an Urban station, similar to KBXX (97.9 The Box) and the defunct KPTY Party 93.3 (and if the change to an urban station comes true, most of the old staff at 93.3 will be working at 95.7), but many calls to the management or e-mails to the management are currently bilingual, hinting that they're pursuing a Latino format, although the new format is quite unknown, because The Pussycat Dolls are scheduled to appear in studio on Monday, the day the switch will be taking place.

Oh myy God. I listen to Hot 95.7 almost everyday. Its way better than 104.1. Why?!?!

    :(

  5. Shell of burned-out church to become Midtown park

05:25 PM CDT on Wednesday, March 25, 2009

By Lee McGuire / 11 News

HOUSTON -- The fenced-off remnants of a gutted Fourth Ward church are about to become the centerpiece of a new Houston park.

The Houston City Council voted Wednesday to buy the land and what

  6. The Houston city council approved a proposal for a new park in Midtown today. The park will be surrounded by the walls of a church that was once severly damaged by a fire in 2005. The park will take 2yrs to be completed. I'll post more info; renderings later.

  7. New Dynamo stadium is nearly a done deal

From Khou...:D I just post this in the 'Dynamo Stadium' thread a few seconds ago lol.

HOUSTON -- The Houston Dynamo are finally going to get their new stadium.

They cleared the final hurdle this week by getting funding from a Spanish bank based in Madrid.

The Dynamo is paying about $60 million toward the cost of the stadium.

The City of Houston and Harris County will pick up the rest of the tab.

The stadium will be built across Highway 59 from Minute Maid Park where the Houston Astros play.

It will seat 21,000 fans and will have around 35 suites.

The Dynamo say they hope to keep the average ticket price under $20.

Construction will begin in the fall and is expected to take about 18 months.

The Dynamo plan to play their season opener at the new stadium in 2011.
