The Randalls on Weslayan/Bissonnet is just sad now, produce is always old, the people working there are not happy looking, nowhere near where it was in the heyday....

never been here but my parents met at a place called the "buccaneer drive-in, 1955, currently 2016 main residential & sammys
my mom had 4 kids in tow & liked cafeteria dining. we also drove to the country to visit my grandparents often down I45 north outside centerville, stopping at stuckeys in conroe, madisonville & centerville. the corral cafe in madisonville was so good my grandparents drove there many sundays from marquez where they lived, a considerable distance!
Mr Bake a Tater was on Shepherd across the street from St Ann school, my Mom used to take me there, it was great!

I wish I had some photos of Upper Kirby. That area was a bit dodgier at the time. I remember the north side of Alabama between Greenbriar and Revere had a collection of pretty scary apartments.
and by dodgy , you mean affordable right?
Kirby was just fine during those times safetywise, and had alot more character too!

I received a small box of Freedman Plantlets in the mail last week. Already planted and they grow fast. The cost is FREE!!!!!! FREE POSTAGE. Really nice lady.!!!!!!!!

I've eaten at the one in Lubbuttocks, and I feel no great desire to go to another. I've only eaten there once, but I learned all I need to know about the place when I ordered chile rellenos and got a bland stuffed bell pepper instead of a spicy stuffed poblano pepper. It's not my cup o' tea.
But I'm sure it'll fit right in in Midtown.
Looks like just another franchise, too many other locally owned TexMex places in Houston to support "the man"......
