  1. observation tower in Buffalo Bayou Park. Nice idea and renderings. Can't copy and past images. http://paulbaut.com/?/prof-projects/observation-tower-houston/
  2. Images aren't coming up for me. They hid it incredibly well from the north side. Are your photos from the east and south side?
  3. Sorry if this has been asked already, but where is the parking garage? Underground? Seeing it from the north, I can't tell where it is or if it has one.
  4. map https://www.google.com/maps/place/Exxon+Mobil+Upstream+Research+Company/@29.7365683,-95.4308331,15z/data=!4m2!3m1!1s0x0:0x464c2733d2e8e7df?sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjJ_N_TtsrSAhWr5YMKHVsjDdwQ_BIIaTAK
  5. From what I've heard one of the main arguments is the labor participation rate has fallen, which they view as a more accurate economic barometer versus unemployment. They say the unemployment rate doesn't include unemployed people who have simply stopped looking for work because there isn’t any. That may be part of the reason why they stopped looking. It could also be baby boomers retiring. I don’t know, but I’m sure it’s a multitude of reasons. But which is/are the dominant ones?
  6. Is Drew an often used street at this location, Midtowners? I hate giving up right of ways, but that looks pretty cool.
  7. I can see why. Proximity to rail, historic district, bayou, office space, park, residential, retail, the arts, freeway ramps, skyline visibility, tunnels, growing area, jury duty, err. What did I leave out?
  8. That would be my best guess since it's the only available lot in what may be the most desirable area of downtown for office space. However, our next supertall I think will most likely be mixed use. For this site what's best imo is office #1, hotel #2, but I don't see it as a desirable place to live. Although a very clean and good-looking area, I don't think residential gets put here, which may lower the chance of a supertall, if it's going to be mixed-use. Maybe what tells us our next supertalls location is the highest price lot according to HCAD?
  9. What this means to me is another pocket of high-rises is coming to this dead end at w. Gray. Residents of this tower will like that Regent Square is right around the corner...eventually.
  10. Does project encompass the entire piece of land from Dallas to Allen Parkway?
  11. The first floor interior of the southwest corner of the building is finished. Very sleek inside. The first floor eastern side is still under construction.
  12. Can only tell from one side where the parking garage is, and it's not ugly. Is it gonna be underground? Or did ZC just did that good a job of hiding it? ZC does nice work, but I wish they would have hired an architect from one of their other projects. Those are very nice buildings.
  13. I don't see any reason why Fertitta's tower won't be successful. Is the residential portion rental or ownership? Condos and retail are by far the most difficult to have success with. I would guess the most difficult part of a true mixed-use project is finding the right site. Things always seem easier on the surface, though.
  14. An entity that owns many other empty downtown lots and goes by the name, Golconda Venture, owns it. http://arcweb.hcad.org/parcelviewer/ Also, I'm not sure how much has changed, but here is a map I made some time back showing which properties they own. https://www.google.com/maps/d/viewer?mid=16VtKhvVZ9-ja1SeB0cfbG3LOhI8&hl=en_US&ll=29.7497960558403%2C-95.36606800000004&z=16
  15. There was a modern pattern painted onto the southeast side walls today.
  16. Skanska should be ashamed of themselves for building that garage. I can't believe it looks like they're going to keep it that way even once the tower is complete. Someone please tell me I'm wrong. That's a Class F garage.
  17. What I'm hoping happens is that they'll have a great view of soaring towers toward the south/south-west. Lots of potential over there.
  18. There are a lot of families walking around downtown the last few days, and not just around DG. I'm guessing because of Christmas break and maybe the bowl game at NRG. I can't wait until it's the norm. They make the atmosphere more enjoyable.
  19. Did they run out of time and money when they were designing the south side? North side is above average.
