So the renderings you posted are updated?
the street names seem to be new, too.

One day we will have a western view.

Yes, Houston needs more flat roofs. Slants are so slanty.
Totally misrepresented my statement. I'm not for flat roofs, I'm against copy cat designs. This one, Amegy and Hine's all even slant the same direction.

It's nice and I like the rounded corners, but is the slanted roof quickly becoming the newest generic design for Houston?

They worked fast. All the signage on the south side was up around 1:30.

Lovely in a vacuum. Not so much in this context.

Perhaps they are trying not to "interact" with the traffic from event traffic at the TC?
Maybe so, I'm sure they have a pragmatic reason. Just doesn't lend itself well aesthetically.

Pedestrians will get to behold the beauty of the tower's parking garage, or more likely half-vomit their schwarma from Phoenicia's.

There is a garage entrance on the west and north side. Why not put the north entrance on the east side which faces the Toyota Center garage? Instead it's facing the park. Doesn't make much sense to me.

Glad it looks good at night. Hoping the day time view is nice, too.

It does look that way. I like change and this can be good, but in the back of my mind I see this will be the downfall of inexpensive produce and the charm that's part of Canino's. It will be interesting to see how this farmer's market and food hall will compare to the Heights Market going in on Old Katy Road.I agree. Will rents be too high for current vendors?

I agree with you there Lockmat. Surprised neither the Houston Chronicle or McGuff Blog even mentioned this at all.
McGuff reported on Hoffman reporting it:

Per Ken Hoffman on twitter a few weeks back, Charlie is going to be on 1560
Strange though that the Chronicle hasn't ran a story on it yet.

I have not kept up with this thread, but are there others who are severely underwhelmed by the tower portion of this project?

Was that taken early in the morning? It seems this won't have much shade except at that time and also late afternoons.

Dammit, Hines does stuff right, including parking lots. I bet there's even an electric car charging station. Couple of them.
They do. But I think self interest is a big reason as to why they're making this so nice, since so many of their properties surround it.

This perspective is kind of unappealing. There are too many holes and a lack of general density. It does show off a lot of our signature towers, which is alright. I've seen it used occasionally and it puzzles me.
One of the main reasons for the gaps is this viewpoint is perpendicular with the grid, so naturally the towers will hide behind one another. You probably already knew that though since your criticism does seem to be directed at the viewpoint itself.

Aren't all three of these Houston buildings? It looks like DG tower in the back, with Chevron on the left and a tower I don't know the name of on the right.

Site of Tower 1: There were early articles of Caydon purchasing this block as well for his Midtown project. Either he's behind this or he sold the site to another developer.
Site of Tower 2: Renovations are planned for the GreenStreet building, so this one may not take up the entire block.
Instead of paint, I highly recommend the Snipping Tool. Should already be installed.

Just spoke with a construction employee. He said they gray is for the mortar joints, but that it would be restored to the original green color--flat, no gloss.
He said they tried cleaning a few but they were in worse shape than they thought and he also confirmed many were crooked, which I'm guessing will be corrected in this process.
Said they'd be done very soon--guess that's relative from a construction employees point of view though.

A week or so ago HPD was talking/citing homeless in the morning that were sleeping here. As of at least this past Tuesday, there was a fence on at least the east side of the building. I didn't see the rest, but I'm assuming it goes all around.
Apologies, wrong address. My description is for 37 N. Jackson. Is there a thread for that building?

Texas Tower: 47-Story Office Tower At 845 Texas Ave.

Does Hines use multiple different architects for office projects? They use Pickard Chilton a lot, right? I wonder what their crowned towers look like.
