  1. Hemcrete, an engineered blend of industrial hemp and lime biocomposite building material, is at the forefront of the sustainable building movement in Europe and the United Kingdom. You are invited to learn more about this material, which is now available in the United States. This event will be of particular interest to architects and specifiers who are involved in sustainable design and construction. Hosted by American Lime Technology and Olde World Exteriors (based in The Woodlands), this symposium will explore the use of industrial hemp and lime and how it can significantly reduce energy consumption and environmental impact. The material is used as an insulating wall system, and it is particularly notable for its carbon-capturing properties and excellent thermal performance. This event will take place at the Hopewell Project Site, which features the first Hemcrete structures in the United States. The panel of speakers features internationally recognized speakers on the topic of sustainable design. Exhibitors from the Environmental Science program at John Cooper School and representatives from American Clay will be onsite as well. November 12, 2008 Events go from 8:00am - 6:30pm Registration is $50.00 per person Hopewell Project Site 12633 Pearson Road Montgomery, Texas 77356 For more information and to register, visit www.americanlimetec.com/symposium.htm or call Bruce Petersen at 773-414-5486.
