  1. Something to note: High Fashion Fabrics to close on 5/31 https://www.houstonchronicle.com/news/houston-texas/trending/article/high-fashion-fabrics-closing-19381660.php?utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=socialflow&utm_source=facebook.com
  2. This is great, a memorial park from Buffalo Bayou Park to the 1910 Courthouses while connecting to the Jury Plaza sounds like a great idea and a great fit.
  3. City of Houston, METRO to begin sweeping $12 million Westheimer repairs The revised project repaves the entire width of the street in some sections and includes new sidewalks and bus stop upgrades. https://www.chron.com/news/houston-texas/article/houston-westheimer-road-construction-18709385.php?utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=socialflow&utm_source=facebook.com&fbclid=IwAR1RrSFgrxu3X3WtNZaQBigxlJNXWxsJ9Wn9tpPmxVAbd8X5Lhe_4cxw27M_aem_ARvLXeqyIHXpNw6OXsb89MeujXB-OaFrUMw8wNiFGfmLNl9XAyC4eWe7wf6SNJPHSZA#lthma6l3ze4pccgubna
  4. The Astroworld lot surrounded by a mixed-use development district on the level of The Battery at Truist Field in Cobb County for the Braves. Site is on the Loop with Rail access. The other option IMO would be a new arena within the Astrodome itself like 02 Arena within Millennium Dome in London Both options could be viewed as a replacement venue for an aging NRG Arena if the Texans & HLSR would be interested.
  5. 6. Hopefully the county’s presence here cleans up or get rid of the corner store on Main. That thing is a blight
  7. Since Post is a destination, I see it as meeting rooms or event space to support the hotel clientele and their demands (weddings, conferences, etc) to increase reservations.
  8. I foresee a continued primary use of TDECU as it has no events outside of the spring game while Shell will be hosting the Dynamo 2024 season. It just makes sense to continue using TDECU Stadium as the primary home.
  9. Drill Baby Drill. Washington Post is reporting the Roughnecks branding will live on in the post XFL-USFL merger UFL. https://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/2023/12/31/xfl-usfl-merger-ufl/?utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=wp_main&utm_source=twitter
  10. A hotel is planned. Lovett was trying to get breaks for it. City council vote delayed, per HBJ It’s being referred to as a convention center hotel because Lovett plans to build 21,000 sq ft of convention space within Post. No hotel company has signed on yet. https://www.bizjournals.com/houston/news/2023/12/20/city-council-delays-vote-convention-center-hotel.html
  11. Don’t see them getting far, especially since preparatory work has long been in progress and in some cases, completed. The Hardy extension will become important alternative especially when you consider that I45 North Freeway will be under construction from 2027-2042 for NHHIP. The regions demands will supersede the neighborhood for the greater good, as it should be.
  12. The garage is to help support the new ballpark village development. Was always part of the plan from the beginning. Nothing new here
  13. Just in time to host the CFP National Championship Game and all of its festivities downtown. And after welcoming Aggies for the Texas Bowl, the city could be welcoming Longhorns for the title game. Maybe a UT-Bama rematch too
  14. Im happy to see the “green barrier” make it in their plans, safely separating the promenade from rail. During one of the planning sessions I showed them Hilcorp Tower and its section of Main St square as being an example of this (a prototype if you will) and it looks like they’re implementing some of those elements into this plan. https://x.com/thachadwick/status/1663721970490277889?s=46&t=zrFvaO6tbFH7POh1WfkjuA
  15. NRG Arena (formerly AstroArena) is a totally different place from NRG Stadium. No one has mentioned replacing NRG Stadium or Toyota Center
  16. Was aware of that but I’d expect HCHSA to be involved in the construction of a new arena at the Astroworld site. With a connection to rail via Smith Lands stop, this could be a viable option to attract an NHL tenant as well as replacing NRG arena. This would add new revenue streams, exactly what the tenants are looking for. This. I think it’s an attempt to lure the Coyotes or an expansion franchise.
  17. 1. I do not work for the Astros. 2. This isn’t rocket science. It’s sports franchises looking at what other franchises have done successfully and attempting to replicate that success or exceed it. Teams do this all the time in every league, whether it’s planning a new stadium or mixed use development. And the MLB has numerous examples throughout the league the Astros have probably already visited as they plan their own iteration.
  18. IIRC the non-compete clause at Toyota Center has long expired and I spy an arena replacement for NRG Arena. Might it also house an NHL hockey franchise? Could add additional revenue to the overall complex. Also a competing bid might force Tilman’s hand or beat him to the punch.
  19. The Astros are looking at sports mixed use development trend as a whole. Texas Live & The Battery are just a few examples of this trend, not the inspiration. And most of these developments include the oversized bar element like at Xfinity Live in South Philly, which Astros fans might recognize as the road game watch party host from last year’s World Series. This trend is not only limited to baseball, but is found throughout sports, from Patriot Place (NFL) to North Station (NBA & NHL). And it’s been a trend since Petco Park’s outfield neighborhood that was constructed with the park in 2004. The Astros are simply doing due diligence in looking at what has succeeded and what hasn’t as they plan the venue. They don’t even have an architect of record yet for the project.
  20. Ola closed permanently over the weekend due to planned property redevelopment. Cue itshappening.gif? https://x.com/thachadwick/status/1719507423268909444?s=46&t=zrFvaO6tbFH7POh1WfkjuA
  21. I don’t understand why they can’t put the economic mixed use area inside a redeveloped Astrodome, topped with an onsite hotel on the upper levels of the Dome. It would be a climate controlled mixed use destination to support all events at NRG Park. Extends the funding to essentially kill two birds with one stone.
  22. It closed Tuesday. https://www.houstonchronicle.com/business/real-estate/article/whole-foods-midtown-houston-closure-18415595.php?utm_medium=referral&utm_source=facebook.com&utm_campaign=socialflow&mibextid=Zxz2cZ
  23. Toyota Center has added LED ribbon boards across all facias in the arena bowl.
  24. So what’s next on the agenda? Bayou Place demolition and redevelopment? Tranquility Park renovation? Fish Plaza renovation?
