  1. Until yesterday, I used to get 2-3 bars, EDGE and REALLY slow data rates (like 0.5 to 1 kb per second) on AT&T with my iPhone 3GS in Texas Children's Hospital and that was near the windows. If I went away from windows I would drop down to zero bars and no service very fast. As of yesterday, I now get 5 bars, 3G and 250 kb/second AND my phone works in all parts of the hospital, even away from windows!!!

AT&T must have made some major changes. Just wanted to let all of you iPhone users out there know that you can finally use your iPhone in the med center without dropping calls and having impossibly slow data.

I wonder where the new tower is...

Nice. I live next to the medical center and my AT&T reception still sucks..... Maybe it is the radiant barrier in my home .. ugh

  2. Looking for a reasonably-priced framing shop that can do some posters inexpensively as well as some nicer art works.

    Suggestions?

    Use Paul's in the past

  3. Employees tend to distribute themselves in the suburbs nearest their place of employment. For instance, most Energy Corridor employees live out west. Most TMC employees live south and southwest. Data actually exists to prove this, and I've seen it with my own eyes.

I'd strongly suspect that more Exxon employees will be benefited than are hurt from their move.

Large majority of ExxonMobil employees live in the Woodlands, Kingwood or Spring. There are a bunch in the loop but the Hardy toll road will solve the I-45 problem

  4. It doesn't look like either set of pipes is "new". No one uses iron pipes in residential sewers anymore.

Where does this stuff go? Is that the slab at the bottom? What is on the other side of that wall? It is impossible to make any sugestions when we can't see what it is connected to.

All the pipes go into the slab .... presumably the sewer that is running underneath

The black is probably ABS plastic, not iron...

agree .... it is relatively new as compared to the iron pipe.

  5. Hi,

I am replacing the siding on my garage and also want to put in a larger window. Now I am finding all these pipes that look like sewer vents. I have attached a pic so you can see them. I highlighted, what I think is the old system in blue and the new system in pink. Can I remove the old system w/o harm? And why is the newer (pink highlight) system going like that?

Thanks for any info on this.....

  6. Okay, I usually don't post comments like this but today I just have to. Parked next to me in a parking lot was a Toyota 4Runner with a "Drill Here Drill Now" bumper sticker on it. What, do this person want? All of the domestic oil he wants to power his foreign made car?

could be worse and have the sticker on a Tahoe or a Suburban ..... I guess Hummer doesn't count now that it is Chinese :-)

  7. Hello,

I did the AIA home tour today and saw some neat outdoor lounge/armchairs at one of the tour houses. I am trying to find out where you can buy this chair. Unfortunately I didn't take a picture. It was house #7 on 309 Glenwood. When you walked outside towards the infinity pool there were four plastic "orange slice" chairs and a small table. I believe the owner had four more at another location. They looked really comfortable and were in various colors including red. They resemble Paulin's orange slice chair. I have searched every possible contemporary furniture / outdoor website without luck which leeds me to be believe that these weren't bought at high-end places like Kuhl Linscomb etc.

Let me know if you have seen them and have an idea how they are called and where to find them....... Thanks!

  8. So I drive by Darth Vader's house, that's what my kids call it, on the corner of Buffalo Speedway and University, and there is temporary fencing around it. Like its going to be demolished. Anyone know what's going on?

Always wondered about that house .... The owner must have a "dark" taste

Make sure you have the correct addresses for the HAIF RSS feeds:
