I heard a little snipet on the radio of who I believe was Oliver Luck(Dynamo Gm or President?) saying that the stadium was not looking good at the time. Nice job Bill White, pay double for some land and have no use for it! Kind of pisses me off like when I drive by a stranded car on the road while driving 60mph and seeing the driver waiting for the free tow off the side of the road because it slows traffic so much.

I missed those meetings. Still, there was no way the city was not going to buy the property no matter what any opposition said. Even Bill White said that the city would buy the land and figure something out if the stadium deal could not get done. It was stupid and they paid too much for the land.

Dynamo Stadium is a stupid move by the city. To start off they paid nearly $50 a foot for property that would probably not sell for $25 per foot today. They paid that price not knowing if they were going to get a stadium deal done or not. It was never discussed in the community either. It was Mayor White's baby, and if he wants something done or not done then he makes it happen no matter what the rules or consequences. This guy is a bully.

Not a whole lot. I tried to buy the property 6-8 years ago for $425000 or so. I guess it would have been a decent buy but it was a little too early on in the downtown redev thing. I think the building is 7000 sq feet and its on maybe 5000 feet of land? At the time I was looking at it there was a church in the building with a couple years left on the lease. I drove by about a month or two ago and want to say I saw a restaurant/bar coming soon. Today I didn't notice a sign but construction has begun.

I find it amazing that they had some contest for naming this park and they pick "Discovery Green"? Its just a name and probably doesn't really matter but really, Discovery Green?

I think they might be opening later in the near future. The owners have never had a place that I think could be a night joint so they are working out any kinks so that night might start off more smooth. The tinted windows are a must or you would fry in that little place. and remove trees!? Really?

The new Dist 7 is very good. I eat there once a week except last week when I ate at the east side location. I talked with the owners and they are thinking of doing breakfast on weekends at the downtown location. I also think they might try and stay open late on certain nights.

So, say this property was owned by some guy that was really strapped and this was a way for him to retire. do we have the right to tell him he can't make money because we want to save a building?

Maybe we can buy the center and save the theatre? =) Hey, I love RO Theatre but if Weingartens owns the place shouldn't they be allowed to do what they want no matter how much we dislike it? The theatre is great for the area and preservation is my preference. That being said preservation might lose to the $ if I were the owner.

Tepay, Kubo's and Azuma have top rate sushi. -
I just want to clarify that the towmhomes generally aren't the properties that overpopulate the street. In my neighborhood its the poorly designed duplex and quadplex that have no parking that generally clog up the street. Yes the townhomes usually tke away a place for these duplex's and quad's but the townhomes generally have a 2 car garage and 2 spaces in front of the garage much more parking than a place with zero driveway and no garage.
