  1. Working on sidewalks today moving them closer to the street. Astoria site is in the background. Astoria site diagonally across the street.
  2. Strangely the wooden fence between the McD's and the Astoria plot is back up today. I wonder if that means they plan on picking up the pace or bringing heavier equipment in.
  3. I'll be able to grab quick pics of Astoria and the new bhpbilliton building as it goes up since I work at four oaks place next door. I always need something to do during my lunch break any how.
  4. Haha, I appreciate your technical aspect and the information. I was pretty far off but I also said diagonally not laterally.
  5. The placement of the garage is awful, I'd hate to to live in the far corner during moving days and grocery days. Sheesh How far do yall think that is from garage corner to diagonal apartment corner on the other side? Two tenths of a mile?
  6. Driving by Blvd Place everyday to work, I am just so excited to see this when it is done. It is really going to be a jewel for this area and street corner. I'm so impressed by it's modern clean lines.
  7. Not really true, at least we could say the best thing about Dallas is in Houston
  8. I really hope so. To me the way it was worded was awfully strange but it would be even more strange if they meant ground breaking Q4 2014. On a side note and I may be wrong but I seem to remember they changed the street rendering from this one. I'm going to down a shot of tequila and hope it comes out this way.
  9. I agree with you Montrose1100 on wanting to keep the facade the same. Not to get off topic but your argument about history books isn't very good. History books in public schools do not reflect real history. How we still hail Christopher Columbus as a national hero who deserves his own day is beyond me. For a man who raped, pillaged and robbed natives, our children really get the cheery history about a heinous individual. For that, history books should be changed to show multiple views because they only reflect the view of the individual or groups of individuals that write and edit them. As much as I love Pennzoil Place I don't feel it's owner is obligated to keep the exterior the same. Yes it is his property and those who wish it to stay the same can voice their content in hopes that they will change their minds. However since it isn't a historic landmark they can do whatever they wish to it. I doubt the facade will change, it was just a mere observation I was voicing about the image.
  10. Seems like we may have to wait till the first of the year to find that out.
  11. I believe in property rights as much as the next person. I don't believe anyone here has said that we have any legal right to stop someone from changing the look of their property, but we do live in a country that we have the freedom to at least voice our opinion in opposition of such changes. If they refuse to listen to our concerns and go through with it then so be it, it is on them. But those of us who love architecture and history have a voice and we will use it, regardless if it makes a difference. I'd rather use my tongue to speak than to merely bite it.
  12. I really like to see these fly throughs but sometimes I really have no idea what I'm supposed to be looking at. In this instance of the Waterwall, I really don't notice much of anything except the Waterwall and a few circles in the ground.
  13. Relax friend, even though our constitutional rights have been eroding away over the years I do still have my right to free speech just like you do.
  14. Man this thing is looking fantastic. Didn't really think it was going to come out looking this good. Such a huge improvement for this part of the Uptown area.
  15. I certainly do hope we are overreacting. I'd protest if they changed the exterior facade look.
