  1. Against everything I find holy, I'm going to (GASP) Outback Steakhouse. O, the humanity! I will let you know if I'm able to eat the "food" in between my audible sneers and condescending eye rolls.

  2. Pacé. Pacé. Pacé d'implorro...

  3. Springtime...My eyes are all puffy and I can't breath through my nose, not to mention there are 2 birds outside chirping non stop! Nature SUCKS!

  4. You had me at "Merlot"...

  5. I can't believe it! We were just talking how she sang the Best Star Spangled Banner at a Super Bowl, EVER. She was a big black BEAUTIFUL mess, but Damn I loved her.

  6. How can you not LOVE MADONNA!!

  7. ok...BOYS and GIRLS, FRIENDS and NEIGHBORS...My phone is on the Fritzz so if you need to contact me please do so on Facebook or email me at frheard@gmail.com and I'll get back to you just as soon as I feel like it. OK? OK! Thankssomuch...

  8. I have just discovered the MAGIC and WONDER that is the DOLLAR STORE!! What the Hell? How come no one ever told me about this place???!!!

  9. I spent all day making New Years Black Eyed Peas, as Southern tradition dictates. I did not use a recipe so I didn't know what I was doing. They turned out really bad. Inedible in fact. Does that mean my 2012 is ruined from the start??

  10. Off topic, but...What the HUH?? Why is there snow in pic #3? I'm out of town a lot, but don't remember hearing it had snowed here.
  11. I don't care how badly I'm dehydrated and need electrolytes due to my "gastroenteritis", Powerade is GROSS! Can't I just drink Coke Zero??

    1. IronTiger

      IronTiger

Maybe not. What you could do is make a mixture of salt, sugar, and water, that would probably work. Cheap, too!

  12. Having food poisoning is not nearly as fun as it sounds. It's been a rough day!

  13. Thank you to everyone for the Birthday wishes. They made my day!!

  14. I'm all for specialty foods and stuff, but I was hoping for something more "mainstream", I guess. I've never been to their store on Westheimer, so I don't know....can I go there for paper towels and Diet coke, 409 and toilet paper?? I love olive oil, capers and hummus, but they only go so far for my daily needs. I guess I'll just continue to shop at KillerKrogerOnKullen for my staples. But I know where to go if I need grape leaves and baklava!
  15. While it is true airline food must be prepared differently, it also has to be seasoned and cooked to satisfy the most people, thus not too spicy, not too much garlic, salt, etc. Also, not to split hairs, but microwave ovens are not used on CO aircraft. In fact the food is precooked, then heated in hot air convection ovens. Also, to many peoples surprise, aircraft are not equipped with refrigerators.
  16. Pappasitos, Pappadeauxs, and Pappas BBQ each have an outlet in Terminal E. All the other stuff, as I recall, is made up of national chains. Wendy's, Subway, Starbucks, etc. As for the legroom deal, I'm not really clear on the policy. I guess if there is an open exit row seat, you can pay to sit there. Whooppee. What if you're the sucker that paid to sit there, then someone who did not pay sits in the other available exit row seat. Won't you feel like a sucker? You think the flight attendants are gonna kick them out? i doubt it.
  17. It can't be much of a differentiator if the free food is crap. Most of what CO serves as free is of lower quality than one might find at an interstate truck stop. As a consumer, I'd be very willing to pay for something that is of higher quality. You get what you pay for, (YGWYPF?? pretty good, eh, kylejack?) and free food ain't good.
  18. As they say, "Build a bridge. GET OVER IT". Any ideas on time of completion? I checked out all the links provided and didn't see a possible "finish by" date. How long does it take to build a bridge?
  19. I'm sorry, but HUH? Nevermind. I did a post posting google search.
  20. I don't hate it. At first, I hated it because of what it stood for, now I am growing to like it from a more artistic point of view. I don't see it as unproportionate, in fact I think it fits the building well. Also, the lighting, fluorescent or neon, reminds me of many works of the minimalist Dan Flavin, who of course has a permanent installation in Richmond Hall at the Menil Collection, but on a much larger scale.
  21. Ponzo's on Bagby is quite good. Dolce Vita is amazing, but pretty gourmet and authentic, kind of on a different level than most places, opposed to the traditional pepperoni and sausage most Americans expect. The Robiola pizza will make you slap your mama. I'm trying Pink's tonight. All this pizza talk...makin' me hungry.
  22. OH my DOG. I had dinner at Caliopes tonight and it was great. Pronunciation?? cal I O pees?? Or cal E O pees? cal E OPs doesn't sound right, but I'm not a cajun or familiar with the dialect. Same with Chartres. Is it CHAR ters, or CHART res? I say CHAR ters. In New Orleans they say bur GUN dee. I read it as BUR gun dee. Like the wine. There are many more examples in town of streets, and places with different pronunciations...San fe LEE pe or San FILL a pee?? I know what is correct but why is there a discrepancy? I blame Marvin Zindler, dog rest his soul.
