  1. I don't think anyone mentioned Taquerias Arandas on 45. I know it's a chain but at least it's a local chain. (I think) I had lunch there yesterday and it was quite good. It beats the socks off Taco Cabana!! Can anyone tell me of a mom N pop place around there with equal quality and service to Arnadas? I really like to support the local places but haven't had great luck with finding good food. I tried Pollos Asados La Silla on Canal but the mole kinda made me wanna barf. I do like Brothers Tacos on Dowling. The frijoles a la charra are so freakin' good!
  2. I should have responded earlier, but I'm just now getting over the Green Beer Hangover. Yes, I was defensive because around the same time I read lcc179s comment, two TV crews were down the corner covering this "story". I figured with what lcc179 said and what I'm sure the tv folks were gonna say, this was going to get blown out of proprtion and would negatively impact the neighborhood. I'm over it now. I personally have very little reason to be out at 2:30am (I'm boring) so I guess I cannot speak of what shenanigans may or may not be happening, but my experience here has been pretty much all good. Ma-ha-lo!
  3. This is a rare occurrence that just happened to happen to someone famous. Had it been anyone else, it wouldn't have made the paper. If this one instance is going to deter you from buying over here(this happened a block from me) then you made the right decision. You clearly don't have the intestinal fortitude to handle living in a transitional hood. Like I said, this type of thing is rare over here and this is the first time in 3 1/2 years I've heard of anything like this happening around here. Not saying it doesn't of course, but this could have happened anywhere in the city.
  4. I love this building, even though I've never been inside. I'm sure they don't take kindly to random strangers just trapsing in. It's just so stylized 60's. On another note, kylejack, I don't think you have to be Christian to want world peace. If it was a cross or something, that'd be a different story.
  5. Thanks, Subdude. I've been lurking so long, I already feel like I know many of you (but not in a creepy way). I think I have a feel for the dynamic of the board and have learned so much. A long overdue thank you to all of you for entertaining and educating me about Houston. I love it here. As far as the lights, if it is for the American Heart Association, then it isn't lame. For Valentine's Day? Lame. How big do you think those light bulbs are? Like as big as your head? Bigger?
  6. I saw them last night as I was walking the dogs. Think it has anything to do with Valentines Day, or something lame like that? HI, by the way. Long time lurker, first time poster.
