Lighting, sidewalks, streets, etc are just about done. There has been an additional lane added to the Northside. Suppose it is for turning in and out of. Any chirps of what exactly is about to happen in this area? 

Hmm another question I have after driving San Felipe this morning. Some lights are flashing, some working, and others are completely off with no flashing (SO DANGEROUS). 

Are all lights in the city supposed to be equipped with battery backups to keep them flashing red in the event of a power failure? San Felipe at Fountainview and San Felipe at Augusta were just totally off today with no backup flashers. Someone's gonna get killed like that. 

Y'all are both wrong because no one is maintaining them currently haaaa

So.. Plans?

There is a new traffic signal being installed at the intersection of South Post Oak Lane and Longmont. 

Has anyone else thought our city has exceptionally poor light timing? I am at my wits end trying to get someone to fix a few intersections that cause giant clogs on my morning and evening commute. They require some realllllly simple fixes that would save all the commuters 5-10 minutes if corrected, each day. Why is it impossibly difficult for the city to figure out? Have they just said "screw it" with COVID? The recent freeze only seems to have made the bad turn into ugly. 

I drove down Westheimer from the Beltway to 610 last weekend, Saturday about 8pm, and I kid you not, hit a red light at every intersection but 2 the entire distance. That is A LOT of intersections. It was a painful experience knowing the light immediately ahead was going to turn red as my current intersection light was turning green. After awhile it became almost comical how poor the timing is. What could have been a 35 mph cruise the whole way down turned into a 45 min nightmare. 

I experienced a similar feat driving San Felipe between Voss and the loop. Hit almost every light without fail. Driving the speed limit only seems to make it worse. It appeared some people had outsmarted it and knew if they went 50 in a 35, they could make every light!!! Dangerous as heck.

Anyone know how to program some traffic lights? Hit me up. :)

Looking for any sort of update on this land or The Tanglewood Medical along post oak lane if someone has a nugget. The area along Post Oak Lane next to the Wynden has been in a state of construction/disrepair for a few years now. Sidewalks all messed up, dirt and mud everywhere, half put up construction fences. Trying to figure out what is going on there. 

How about just replacing the existing sidewalks down memorial with new smooth ones that are wider? 

If you're a baylor folk, on the sicem365 boards there's lots of waco development discussion. Amazing how much the town city has changed in the last 10 years. 

There are a couple large office building developments in the works. AT&T has been reported to be one of the potential tenants. Could this be a clue?

Copy the one in Montrose and get it built. Can have parking on the backside and store along Washington..

BG Group Place sky deck is on their 39th floor so it looks like they are around 38-40 from the pics above if it is the same floor height.  Just a quick observation though. 

Walked through GreenStreet this past weekend and there were people all over the place.  I had no idea there was a new Salata next to the recently opened Cafe Bene.  Both of those will get a lot of foot traffic on weekdays from the law school, 1301 fannin, etc.

I accidentally did an uber ride share when I landed at SFO. It added 40 minutes to the drive, as the person I shared it with was staying on the west side of town and I was Downtown.

Cut the ride cost in half but I made sure to check what I was requesting the next time. I don't think they've added that feature to the Houston market yet. Would be nice if you were sharing the ride with someone you know, with multiple pick-up locations (let's go to the club).

Wasn't a bad experience, just added time.

You can split fares really easily with uber...

I think the answer is you need both, not one or the other. 

Work has been slow at this one.  Sure hope there is a grocer going.  Lot's of rumblings in the past couple of years anyways.  

Might be the ugliest new apartment complex anywhere across town.  Brown paint and hardiplank.  Elan/Greystar/whatever should be ashamed.  

Love that Great Southwest building.  Hope it is preserved.  

This will be delayed for a few more months.

Ugh, that makes me sick. So many good times there.  

I mean who didn't expect this?  Doesn't even register as a bump in the road to me.  Just elected officials representing their constituents so they can say they did something/tried. 

One teensy little thing though...

 

For those of y'all who keep mentioning underground trains, it would never work. Much of Houston was built on swampland, remember? Those floods that we get, the high water table, the silty sand underneath all the concrete, the fault line under Richmond Ave. that causes you to play out your "I'm riding a bull in the rodeo" fantasies as you bounce down it... 

 

He was right in the article when he said that Metro's ridership is dismal. Driving around every day, (I drive for a living.) I hardly ever see a full city route bus. They just don't happen. Yes, the P&R buses get utilized, (somewhat) but that's a different kettle of fish.

Wow, freaking awesome pictures.  Both the Elan project and the Pearl Project are huge.  They look ugly as sin right now up close but hopefully they'll get the color schemes sorted out. Sure wish both of them had gone with brick.

I've gotta believe the Brazos Valley Station is being placed as more of a transfer station for a future expansion to Austin/San Antonio??? 

Interesting, I just assumed all banks had vaults.

They have a huge underground vault in their downtown building.  Nothing changing at that location. 

Free Press Summerfest moved to NRG for those that weren't aware.  What an awful location.
