  4. BCO Mixer May 24, 2018 6:30-8:30 PM Nettbar 4504 Nett St Houston, TX 77007 Trust us- you don’t want to miss this Houston outdoor social club’s monthly meeting for epic adventurers! This month, BCO’s monthly mixer will be hosted at the brand new, Nett Bar! Like us, this bar has some history. It’s been re-purposed from a 1900’s-era home and is located in a historic Houston West End neighborhood next to railroad tracks (Heights). Dog-friendly, they have a great outdoor space to play games while enjoying refreshing beverages and delicious food. You’re sure to have a great time here and feel like you’re hanging out in someone’s backyard. (We’ve also heard rumors that every time a train goes by they serve mystery shots if you’re into that sort of thing!) What better way to wrap up the week and start the weekend than with good friends at a cool little spot with great food, full bar, extensive wine list and craft beers galore! We know Thursday’s technically a work night, but one thing we’ve learned from the younger generation is that the weekend can start before Friday and definitely should! This BCO mixer is open to everyone! Bring your friends and come early, drop in or stay until close, but whatever you do – join us! You'll get the inside scoop on upcoming events. Trust us; you won’t want to miss this monthly meeting for epic adventures. Parking is in the lot and on the surrounding streets. 5. BCO - A Walk in the Woods Aka Hiking Memorial Park Trails May 20, 2018 Meet at 8:15 AM, start 8:30 AM to 10:00 AM Memorial Park by the rugby/soccer field parking lot N. Picnic Lane Houston, TX 77007 Need a good hike or to escape into nature for a bit this weekend, but don’t have the time to drive out of town. Well, we know just the place. Memorial Park, one of BCO’s inner city favorites, is an amazing 1,466-acre park right inside the loop. We call it the Central Park of H-Town! It’s one of the largest parks in the county, and it boasts trails that are a mix of hard packed dirt, sand, trees and tree roots. It’s wooded, wild and hidden right in the middle of our concrete city! Join us for an hour and a half quick-paced hike through some of the lesser-known (and more adventuresome) trails this park has to offer. Wear tennis shoes or hiking boots as it’s easy to bang a toe on a tree root. If you’ve never been on these trails, you’re in for a surprise. There’s some ‘elevation’ in this park…enough that you won’t believe you are still in the flat city of Houston. Remember to bring your hydration pack or water bottle, as there are no water fountains along the trails. Please check the meeting location map on the Bayou City Outdoors site calendar before you head over to the park. It’s a big park, and we try and leave on time! RSVP at https://bit.ly/2GSSiFA . For additional information call 713-524-3567 or e-mail to info@bayoucityoutdoors.com. *** Get your copy of Houston A to Z while it lasts-today! 6. BCO Farmer’s Market Bike Ride May 19, 2018 - 8:30 to 11:30 meet at 8:00 am Onion Creek 3106 White Oak Dr. Houston, TX 77007 Grocery stores are so overrated! Pedal with us this Saturday for a fun weekend ride that will leave your taste buds and souls enriched and support our wonderful Houston Farmers Markets. Did you know many of our local restaurateurs’ shop at our Houston Farmers' Markets each week? There they find the best handcrafted cheeses, local produce, baked goods and locally sourced organic meats, and you can too! Our mission is to pedal fast enough to beat them before they take all the goods in the market, but slow enough to enjoy every revolution of the ride. We’re experts at finding the perfect balance! We’ll meander our way down side streets, trails and residential areas you never knew existed in the heart of Houston. First, we’ll wake ourselves up with the delicious aroma of a leisurely Onion Creek coffee. After our caffeine kicks in, we’ll cruise off to the markets to shop for fresh produce, sauces, jams and delicious baked bread. This 12-15 mile ride lasts about three hours, so bring plenty of water and a backpack to carry all your goodies home! Plan on sticking around after the ride to enjoy lunch at Onion Creek Cafe. They are a locally owned eatery with great food, atmosphere, brews, and friends! No bike? No worries! Houston has great rental options. Choose from: B-Cycle Kiosk: Looking for the quickest rental option? B-Cycle allows you to rent via mobile app. There are many stations around town to pick up and drop off your rental. Check their map and pricing options information here: http://houston.bcycle.com Bike Barn: Prefer a person to person transaction and/or a faster bike? Then you should check out Bike Barn. We love their rental shop at their Bayou location: 105 Sabine St. Houston, Texas 77007 on Buffalo Bayou at Hidden Lake. BCO Member Gear: If you are a member of Bayou City Outdoors and do not have a bike, we can loan you a bike for the ride. However, you MUST call the office 1 to 2 weeks in advance to arrange for the loaner bike. Where to Meet: Onion Creek, 3106 White Oak Dr., Houston, TX 77007. Please DO NOT park in the Onion Creek lot – there is parking on the surrounding streets, but look out for ‘no parking’ signs. Meet at 8:00 AM – Our ride will go from 8:30 AM to 11:30 AM. This event is FREE for members and non-members alike. This event is open to older kids who have good bike handling skills. Please note - we will be riding on some busy Houston streets.
