Gun Violence, Mass Shootings & Gun Reform
august948 replied to KinkaidAlum's topic in National Politics
There may be some overlap, but I think you'll find that people who put a high priority on the second amendment are the ones arming themselves against crime rather than moaning about it. The primary reason you'll find second amendment advocates opposing gun control is the belief that the end goal is abridgement of the second amendment and complete confiscation of all firearms (see Australia et al.) -

Plus, she'll get a nice federal pension. Will she also get a pension from the city after serving as mayor?

I've seen people use cones and their garbage cans for this. Easier than keeping a car for just that purpose.

Large pockets of less developed areas are fairly normal here. And, if you like to see new development you should be glad it's that way. Much easier to do something on this type of brownfield vs tearing down denser/higher/more valuable buildings to get something new going. We live in a golden age for Houston.

Bissonnet Golf Range At 2900 Bissonnet St.
august948 replied to Highrise Tower's topic in Historic Houston
Golf ranges seem to have been a popular use for large tracts of vacant land. When I first moved to Westchase 20-ish years ago there were at least four that I can think of off the top of my head between Wilcrest and hwy 6. Plus two par 3 courses. -

Calm down...I was just pointing out that there a lot of lifers in politics. Probably the vast majority, if you look at it closely, on both sides. Plus some wannabe's.
