  1. Great shot of the 2 main projects, too bad ES wont ever be in this view..... Photolitherland
  2. Good example with the Holocaust, but it serves as a counterexample as well to your point. I think we can agree that the current war didn't JUST HAPPEN,the 9/11 attacks though were the most important in the "leading up" to the war. And since we are all affected more by the war, than by 9/11(for some), a memorial for this attack seems fitting, EVEN if you think this is a "feel good" measure. If they made a memorial for Kristelnacht (i dont know, but they probably did), it would be an important one either way. So, if you still doubt that this "feel good" measure is just that, think about what the memorial is about. That event helped lead to the war. And im sure there are more Houston ties to the war, than there is to related 9/11 attacks.
  3. WOW! Chron Commenters actually saying they want to do something progressive in the city!!
  4. Update by Photolitherland on SSC http://forum.skyscra...ad.php?t=164691
  5. Don't take this the wrong way, but what was the point of posting this?
  6. It might not be a connection, but a memorial is a memorial, and wether the connection is small, it was an important event, was it not? It doesnt matter if there was a memorial in Pennsylvania or in Houston, because it was something that affected everybody. Maybe not in a big way, but i think the family or relatives who had somebody killed in Flight 93 would appreciate it.
  7. The sad thing is ive been looking/posting webcam updates for a while now....
  8. Any new updates, people? Here's my contribution.... I originally posted this on the ES thread, but it featured work on the skywalk. Just look at the upper right corner!
  9. Ahhhh, gorgeous day in Houston! FYI, barely found out last week, but you can see the webcam at different times, by clicking on the time, which dropdowns to earlier times. And by clicking on the calendar viewing different days, as well as times.... I just found out, so if you already know, then yeah...
  10. Right? Looks like something right out of City Data's City vs City Forum. Anyways, people have been dumb/childish on both parts. (some)HAIF'ers acting childish for actually arguing with these Dallasites. But (some)Dallasites for bashing Houston on a site dedicated for/to Houston! I mean seriously... But its been entertaining...
  11. Nice photo update, it is what it is, a "garden" or at least garden-sized. It basically looks like a lawn. Im sure theres stuff to do there, sit on a bench, eat at the cafe, etc. But it looks little. But, its a start. It would be cool, if every parking lot would turn into one of these, though!(of course, i would prefer skyscrapers and buildings)
  12. This tower makes quite an impression on the gulf freeway, appears bigger than it really is.
  13. Exactly! Ive never even heard about it until last week.
  14. Has anybody heard/tried that Administaff Balloon, that lifts you up into the air? (or did anybody do it last year?) The prices are too high for the peak hours(which is when most people will go)-$20 for adults,$15 for children During regular hours, both prices go down by 5 dollars... I didn't even hear about this last year. DT should be fun, with the ICE at DG, the Holiday Trolley, and this Ballon for extra holiday amenities. I found this picture( from last year, i presume) on the site. Looks cool! Here's the site, in case anybody is interested. http://www.discoverygreen.com/holiday-balloon/
  15. i dont like how we are grouped up with the Southwest, but whatever... Haven't we've been #2 for a while?
  16. I found this photo from Reverberation photo thread, http://forum.skyscraperpage.com/showthread.php?t=176022 I liked it, with the historical district alongside it, should be a nice contrast when completed.
  17. On a side note, Houston has the 3rd Greenest skyline in America according to Forbes, which from what i read, was based on number of energy star buildings. Houston had 145. http://www.forbes.com/2009/04/06/americas-greenest-skylines-lifestyle-greenest-skylines.html
  18. Yeah, Bank of America Center earns GOLD LEED http://houston.bizjournals.com/houston/stories/2009/11/23/daily9.html?ed=2009-11-24&ana=e_du_pub
  19. Thanks for the great update, great example of a change in seasons...
