  1. Do U think the city would ever consider moving I-Fest to this Area? Not saying it should be that way, but I'm wondering what y'all think.
  2. Um, uh, hmm, like, that DOES sound like a new concept, but this is kinda what I had in mind for Houston: http://www.millenniumpark.org/attractions.htm
  3. Yes, I am that generous to sell my lawn chairs for $35 million a piece. That's what I'll do for my community :-)
  4. The NFL would have to be extra stupud if they'd fall for a proposal of renovating Georgia Dome being the main selling point of being the best hosting city for 2009, but we'll soon find out what they do. Not saying I don't agree, but it'd be a waste for everybody if they take that predictable road instead of the BEST site (H-Town, baby!) But just in case, I got an idea. Let's add in our proposal to renovate Reliant Stadium. I'll donate three lawn chairs from my garage and only give it to Reliant if the NFL agrees to host the SuperBowl there instead of Atlanta, Tampa, and Miami. What, Georgia Dome would be $100 million worth? Okay, have Harris County pay me $35 million per chair, to make our proposal worth $5 million more than Atlanta's. Who's in, yo?! After all, $100 million ain't gonna by Atlanta a retractable Roof, will it?
  5. That was the second funniest thing I've ever seen Yao Ming do in my whole life!! The funniest thing you ask? Do you remember when Yao first came into the league, and wasn't doing as well as the critics expected at first, and TNT had Yao on blast? Before an Indiana Pacers game, Charles Barkley was talking about how he thought Yao would never make it in the NBA, and that he'd "kiss Kenny Smith's ass" if Yao Ming EVER scored 20 points in his inaugural season. Yao's response? Score 20 points in the first half of that same game.
  6. I'll never forget when Olajuwon hit a 3-pointer in Game 7 of Houston's first ever championship. Seeing Houston finally rejoicing with over 500,000 people on the Richmond Strip was the most beautiful thing I've ever seen. Go Rockets, yo!!! P.S. perhaps one day Yao Ming will be as legendary as the Dream was during 93-95.
  7. I love the Chronicle, and I picked it over the Post back in the day. In fact, the Chronicle has my favorite format for a newspaper of ALL the world's papers I have seen. That being said, two papers are better than one, and the competition between the Chronicle and Post made both papers so much better in terms of content and getting the story out. Since the Chronicle is the only paper in Houston, I'd like to see the paper CREATE a competition with other papers around the country as the best newspaper in America. That means I'd like to see them nationally and blatantly try to outsource the New York Post and Times, Washington Post, San Fran, and everyone else. They DEFINATLY have the man power to do it, and you can get a Times just about anywhere in America and parts of the world. The Chronicle, now that it's the only one in H-Town, can try a similar market, subscribing it to the whole state of Texas, parts of Louisiana, and parts of the World as THE paper to read in America. If Chronicle were to do that, we really wouldn't be asking for another paper in Houston.
  8. MAD respect to Metro Matt for da link, yo! Let's make Houston shine bright! CHEA!!!
  9. Oye, can anyone here give me a link to the petition?
  10. don't worry guys. I agree with you on the christmas lights on downtown thing. I think the city should go all or nothing when it comes to downtown lighting.
  11. MAD respect to 02 magazine, aaiigghttt?! Oye, did the magazine show any renderings on this project?
  12. My bad. I meant GreenWAY, not Greenspoint. But yeah, that pedestrian thing. Respect.
  13. HELL YEAH, DUDE!! About that energy thing, I think Houston DOES have the brains to come up with a lighting system that's conservative
  14. We can still have an MLS team in the near future if San Antonio had a team in '06, but it just wouldn't be in '06, yo. The only thing Houston doesn't have for a team is a deticated investment group and/or ownership that's willing to build or renovate a stadium for primary soccer purpose. We got the fans, yo. We just need a fan that's a mulit-million dollar fan to exist in Houston.
  15. Couldn't they have a solar power system that absorbs power during the day, and automatically turns on at night? You know, like them one you may have in your front yard, yo? Sounds far-fetched, but that could be done too! And like, the light bill would be MAD down, yo.
  16. Once again, I think weekends, holidays, and special events for the city, the lighting would be hot :-)
  17. You know what would be a good idea? Why don't they build a couple pedestrian bridge or two over Westiemer, especially since there will be so much urban style living going on at that side of the Galleria area. Or at least develop a pedestrian system Uptown similar to the one by St. John high School (if you've ever been in that area before. You know, it's somewhere near Greenspoint and Montrose. Um, yeah)
  18. I haven't been in Houston for a year or two, and I've been hearing about a Zone d'erotica. What is that? A store?
  19. DDDDAAAAMMMMNNN!!! I was hoping you'd say that! Get yo' money ready folks!! I smell an investment hotspot! I think that may end up becoming the next Uptown in terms of businesss and architecture! And, um, retail. RECOGNIZE!!!!
  20. now I got a question: Is the $700 Memorial City Project and the Redevelopment of Town & Country the same project, or two different companies with a real estate war underway?
  21. You know, I bet if someone convinced City Council, City Council THEMSELVES could talk to the corperations about using the buildings at night on a regular basis :-)
  22. Special OYE to Houston19514! You have just joined the Kick-Ass Club, my friend! Kinda curious about the last paragraph in your statement. How did Power of Houston pull it off in the first place? I mean, being allowed to light up the buildings? And even if they agree, would the City of Houston still have to approve it? Oye, and they REALLY should not have stopped Power of Houston only after the 3rd year. I wonder why they chose to have that event in October and not for 4th of July or New Year's Eve...
  23. I think Downtown Miami's skyline looks the best out of the whole country at night. BTW, 27, it's be SOOOOO COOOOLLL if we could have a Ultra Music Festival in Houston like Downtown Miami does. The biggest electronic music fest in the world, with the lit up skyline, and over 50,000 visiters in the city?! Imagine that, yo!!!! DJs unite!!!! RESPECT!!!
  24. Here's a pic or two from Power of Houston... http://www.flex.net/~furneaux/poh.htm http://houston.about.com/gi/dynamic/offsit.../powerofhouston http://www.hightsite.com/powhouston.html http://www.flickr.com/photos/kt/1131906/ now THIS ONE is what I think Houston could look like on a regular basis at night... http://www.hightsite.com/powhou05.html what do you think?
