  1. They're just working for the money, and choose to work smart. People tend to go faster on the road especially since it just got smoother. Meanwhile police like to stay there b/c it is well laid out, they can be there most hours of the day and not just in the hot hot afternoon hours. They love to catch a few guys on the SB lanes before having morning coffee!!
  2. You've got a point there Niche. I can't think of an outstanding advantage of rail over buses in surburbs. Just love to see things done that will make people use their cars less. I think rail will do that and that people prefer rail over buses.
  3. Me too, but I'm sure that's not gonna happen.
  4. You can go see Dysfunkshun Junkshun there tomorrow. http://www.funkparty.com/
  5. Memorial Hermann Tower is in a world of it's own. I see many cranes in the picture. Med center will keep growing taller.
  6. Talking about rail. I think that would have been the best. Have a light rail that starts at Hwy 6 or further south, make stops at just 4 places: Beltway 8, Airpot Blvd, 610, MacGregor, and terminates at 59. Rideship will be great. I don't see how it won't break even. The same should have been done to I-10. Or what do you think?
  7. Thanks Tory. Your blog gives great info on the project. My wife and I are typical 288 users. We work deep nights just because of the congestion! We're thinking of changing to days but can't stand the unidirectional traffic, which will start off daily at CR 59 or even Hwy 6 when housing market picks up again. Looks like we'll work nights for some more years.
  8. I read sometimes past that 288 will get four more lanes between 59 and CR 56. I've been looking for more info since then but couldn't get anything. Any news, links, timeline on this?
  9. Yep, it's the $$$. And you have many PDs looking for it on 288: HPD, Harris County Sheriff, Pearland Police, Brazoria County Sheriff, Manvel Police (a little to the south), and Troopers all have some juris on 288!!! Go figure. Solution?
  10. I was raised in Africa where football rules- I mean the one you play with your legs. We learn other sports in high school. Basketball is one of them, baseball is not, American style football is not. I cheer Astros because everyone at work is crazy about them, and I like to be a proper Houstoninan. I play basketball sometimes but don't even know how baseball is scored...
  11. TMC needs a good daycare that will cater for kids from 6 months up. I wish someone can open a good daycare in the area. It will be a goldmine. Some of those hospitals can even patner them for employee discounts, paycheck deduction etc., like they do with Bright Horizons in downtown right now. My wife and I both work in TMC and have been looking for a daycare for our girl since Dec 06. The Montessori is not pocket-friendly to us. We're not so pressed because she goes to a home in our subdivision, but older woman just want the luxury of sneaking out to check on the lil' one.
  12. Swimming in that lake is bad. Please let's stop it at that and let's not get personal. I live in surburbia Manvel and have visited the park twice. We dined downtown on one of those visits. My wife can't have enough of the park. By the way we lived in SW part for 3 years and never visited DT. Great to have something to cheer downtown apart from the Rockets.
