  1. If this ever get built can they put a rotating beacon in sync with Williams' like someone suggested? I saw the beacon tonight after a long time and imagined two in sync, it will be an instant attraction.
  2. Your suggestion is the only one I like more than 'Houston City University'
  3. Sounds like the Downtown campus of one of those vocational schools.
  4. Is this inspired by election year? or Charlotte Baldwin State University Who is Charlotte Baldwin?
  5. That's funny, but I don't think UHD students will laugh. I stand by Houston City University.
  6. Ben Taub and Memorial Hermann are the two hospitals close to the park and they both have parking arrangements for their employees. On the other hand I see patients and their visitors trying this.
  7. Uptown has never yawned for lack of people. I've not been there lately so I don't know how much crowd you saw but being a Friday evening, on a week when many people didn't go to work and holed up by Ike, there's likely a surge (trying to get used to the word) in patronage.
  8. lol. I just said that. You just can't get that out-of-this-world crown out your mind.
  9. you sure have some great taste buds. Went to BJ's on Sunday. Our first time. Wait time is still about 40mins. Have avocado egg roll for appetizer and ordered pazooki for dessert. They're simply great. If you call my home and no one picks up, try BJ's.
  10. mattress store - fine cell phone store - needed check cashing place - NO! SCR's above this. I asked same question on another thread. The city should realize that influx of retailers will create traffic. On TXDoT plan it looks like we have to wait till 2012? There's a link somewhere on HAIF. Here you go: http://www.2035plan.org/docs/final/Appendi...02007-11-19.pdf
  11. College is fun if you stay in the hostel. Your lectures should be fun compared to what I had as an undergraduate: 120 seats with about 250 students registered, lecture theatres without a/c, no, not that the a/c's not working, students are just too young for that privilege. So have fun out there, but make sure you graduate, with good grades. Do I sound preachy?
  12. My bad! Five years ago when I just got here a student of UoH told me UHD is not part of them. So sorry.
  13. Oh yeah some people get them confused. And even more people think the school is part of UH system, you know...with UH Clear Lake, UH Sugar Land, UH Victoria... I say change the name. How about Houston City University?
  14. This is so shocking. I do see Dr Feigin many times a week PICU at Texas Children's. He's such a pleasant man. When they began searching for a new Physician-in-Chief a few months back, I wonder why he's retiring when he still looks strong. Little did I know that he's battling cancer. Two months, two icons in medicine gone!
  15. Love 1500 Louisiana, 1400 Smith, and the circular skybridge that connects them.
  16. Yeah I'd love to have something like Sugar Land's town center/City Walk in design. While it may not be an excellent design, people hardly care. My greatest gripe is that there is too much parking along "Market street".
  17. I'm glad the project is still alive. Thanks scrres. But Historic Real Estate needs to do a few things 1. update their websites, 2. give us rendering of the project, 3. publicize the project. These are no brainers.
  18. On a second thought, it may not be a bad idea. The next time you pick up a nail from new home construction site, just drive there. You can window shop while they fix your tire.
  19. I welcome Gringo's. The one in Meadow's Place (59/W Airport) is good. But Goodyear? with all the retail and dining? I understand CBL need to fill space but they better put Goodyear in the back back facing Kirby Dr.
  20. Anybody know how the new Delta route to Lagos is doing?
  21. ...the Vice President of some businesses in the complex will be doing that. There won't be many of them though.
