Harvard Heights is busy doing easy and close jobs. Quoted 25k for a 2 story 24x24 shell. When I wanted a simple 10k garage, I was "too far away" for them. I live just outside the loop on the south side..guess lumber prices over here was the breaking point

Marmer...spill the beans...how are you associated with this house? I cant see anything being developed here. It really reminds me of growing up in Channelview, which isnt a bad thing, just not something I would ever repeat.
Just remembered, when we were driving thru there were alot of mobile homes (trailers) all over the place...so its a long term gamble. Pearland is obviously developing in another direction and leaving this area behind.

I wonder if the three acres is a good buffer from the bad and depressing..
Would 3 acres in Sharpestown help. The area looks the same.

we drove the area and its very industrial and the houses around it are cheap rundown houses from the 70`s. I have lived in some bad areas, but this is bad and depressing.

it appears there is brown grime on everything from the ol school monitor to the walls. I cant even see the front to see what style it is.

flipper what was the exterior siding???looks like plywood with battens?? My house has the same siding of plywood, but I think they are mimicking whatever was there originally. Just never sure what they were trying to achieve.
To me the house doesnt look that bad..I mean its just wood, concrete and sheetrock.
I would hate to hear what others thought of my house when I bought it. Well guess I already have on another thread

Riverside Inn was a nice restraunt on the river near the Highlands bridge on I-10. They had financial problems, and it burnt down...maybe last yr or the yr before.

the rest of the area seems to have been developed in the 20's..is that correct? I lived 2 blocks from the school and my house was built in 39. Was this area considered suburbs when it was built?

I remember going as a kid..gocarts were always the first stop. Seemed like we drove forever to get there. It was the first time I saw Coke cans emptied and Jack Daniels filled and taken in,( something I used in my later yrs)...seems like everyone had to carry a can.

speaking of bar/cantinas...the city should tear down the dilapidated "El Destino" off Lombardy and Telephone....wow, what an eyesore...

We'll be rocking in Woodland Heights. I'm sure we'll loose power, but we have plenty of coolers and ice, planning on getting the smoker going on Sunday after IKE is hopefully long gone. Anyone interested in ribs, chicken, salmon, and pork chops, let me know. Also have a few coors lights handy.......
I will ck back on this after the storm

Hey, does anybody know what to do about this? It's still very much alive. Not even paralyzed.
Will a vet remove it for free? Or am I going to have to kill it, rip the torso from the wing, and then dig out the fractured part of the wing with a straightened out clothes hanger?
drive backwards exactly one mile/hr more than you were traveling upon initial impact.

oh ya...I heard Stand and Deliver the other day at HEB..stragest thing ever. So no one thinks this is a subliminal thing? I thought maybe it made the regular shoppers feel uneasy and maybe not steal anything, or eat the product and put it back.

I realize stores play background music designed for the demographics, so I have always wondered why they often play 80`s new wave at this store. I thought maybe it was to make some people uneasy with the unfamiliar music? This am, in the short time I was there, they played the Cure, the Clash, and Psychedelic Furs...where does the music come from? Club HEB? I am not complaining and actually love when they play the music, but just curious about the thought behind it.

Where is Vicman with his school info? Is there a happy hr prior to this?

speaking of saint arnolds, I am proud to say one of my best friends did the artwork for their new beer El Santo. Look for it.

Yes it helps. I currently live in 77023 and really need to move...just not sure where to go. Kingwood looks the best but the damn drive is a killer. Unfortuntely my housing budget is around 240 and under. I am dying for an older house (50-70s) just not sure where to go...we may have kids shortly so schools are important.

tried to search but didnt see anything...we are trying to move out of the east end to a place with better schools. A friend said the schools are really good in the area, but I didnt see anything to support on har. Is this a nice neighborhood, or ghetto? I love the mods over there, but also notice prices are a little low...what gives?

there was a huge house on Market St, last time I was there was like 10 yrs ago...you really cant see it cause of all the overgrown bushes around the gate. It was way west of Sheldon Rd. There was alot of prostitution around the area at some apartments nearby that I think burned down

home depot has too many contractor types with inadequate ck out for those purchases...on thing they are trying is a traveling ck out that someone scans all your items then swipes a card to add your info. When you reach the cashier you just hand the card, swipe it and pay. Unfortunetly the guy using the ck out needed alot more training, and the ck out person took forever to double ck everything..ahhhh progress...

oh I will..David was a really nice guy and great manager...I also went to Home Depot at Gulfgate...that was an experience in guirrila (sp?) warfare...

Has anyone here noticed the service quality at our Lowes has gone downhill...not sure if its just me or not. In the past I was always greeted and at least 3 people would ask if they could help. Now you cant find any help, the store is dirty and its just a real negative experience. Yesterday I was in line with about 100$ of building supplies, there was a super long line, and 4 employees off to the side (on break?) just having a great time playing grab ass with each other. I was so pissed I just left my stuff and went home. There was a great manager there and not sure where he went....damn its 8 am and now I have to drive to Lowes on 610 just to buy a damn window. (I refuse to go to home depot...that place is horrible). I would love to pay a little more for a nicer store...any suggestions?
