I've been told that rain helps cure the concrete.

Can they have the large sign down the side though? I thought there was some ordinance preventing that in downtown.
Does not apply to Hotels.

Omg that parking garage across the street is dreadful. Yikes!
I wonder if Hines is buying the garage too.

That's the Chronicle garage. Maybe they'll do something to it after they move.

It looks like they painted the clock. I guess it's staying.

I like how they've encased the fire escape on the Milam side, with possibly, teak wood slats.

Kinkaid, you crack me up!

^ preach! They also ought to give us real sized parking spaces, but alas, I digress.
I think the spaces along the outside walls are bigger. I drive an SUV and don't seem to have a problem. The inner spaces seem smaller. The spaces at the Alley Garage are way to small.

Love this new building but the garage next door . . . . not so much. Are there any plans for a face lift of some sort? Vines? Mural? Something?
They ought to for what they now charge monthly for parking.

wish they would remove the suicide lane that's sometimes one way and go for complete streets by adding separated bike lanes. I know they won't though, it's a 2 lane road that is considered a 'major arterial road'.
They put that reversible lane in when 59 was under construction. They were supposed to take it out after construction, but never did.
W. Alabama sunk during the drought, leaving the manholes sticking up. For a while they were major obstacles.

I say bring back the "Weather Ball" that used to be up there.

I park in that garage. It was always my understanding that it was to be used for this apt. bldg.

The Preston Station on the Red Line is merely blocks from the courts. I've taken the rail many times for jury duty (it's free). I don't see your point.

Thanks for the update. I'm still interested as to what they'll be doing with the clock on top.
They need to put that weather ball back up there.

They are testing a double train on Rusk. A City of Houston Prius is double-parked on the tracks at Louisiana blocking it. The train is out there blowing its horn! LOL -

Yep. I just saw a train on Capitol at Milam - moving very slowly, with an escort.

I just noticed the crane base this morning. Maybe the excavators will move over to the Hines site when they wrap up here.

Does Houston have any Youth Hostels? I stayed in one in NYC on the 120s streets can't remember when I went to a conference at Columbia. I was just thinking HSPVA campus, music and and dance students, the arts, places to crash for cheap. Seems like it would be a cool add on for any city to have.
Yes. There is one on Lovett.

They've been working on the west side windows today. I can tell if they're replacing them or just painting the frames. They got about 6 floors today, so it must just be paint.

I was going to report that their digging behind that old brothel, but it looks like word is already out.
-
My phone is smart, but its user - not so much. They're digging along the building (Franks). I could be making this up, though.
-
Mark the date. They just started digging today!

El Expresso Bus Station At 2201 Main St.

I took the Megabus to NOLA over the weekend. The station in N.O. is awesome. It's the old Union Station where Amtrak, Greyhound and Megabus converge. It's pretty much like an airport. I was very impressed.
