  1. Went to Pete's Piano Bar last night... excellent stuff. Place was packed, good crowd, and the performers were very entertaining... I'm getting real excited about the other stuff opening up in the Pavilions this month. The place is starting to get a lot more foot traffic which is great to see downtown.
  2. haha man you guys hardcore, very impressed this has already gone down...
  3. myeviltwin, sounds like a good idea. i would say only full surface lots should count. who's going to begin documenting?
  4. rolled by the site at about 11 last night after the stros game... lots of activity, buldozers buzzin and everything
  5. i am down with as many surface parking garages as possible... Houston needs to get rid of as many surface lots as possible... at least at this stage
  6. That's great news!!! I think Lucky Strike will really add traffic to HP just like HOB. Also, this is out of topic but this video needs attention... great H Town views in this music video.
  7. Slim Thug's video for "I Run" has some awesome shots of Houston's multiple skylines... galleria, medical center, and downtown. Very cool.
  8. the guadalajara is pretty sweet and they have a nice lounge place upstairs to get some drinks before hittin up main street
  9. HP is not as big as a success due to the economic situation right now. i really think that is the main reason. if oil was at 140 a barrel this place would almost be filled. This would mean another place to party downtown other than the preston at main area. I think when the economy gets better this place will be a big success. Residential would have been awesome but at least we have 3 major blocks taken up. So 3 surface lots taken up and they are not just office space. Now the other empty lots all around the exxon building can hopefully start to fill up with residential. so maybe not having residential on top of hp will allow those surface lots to be taken up. I'm already happy to see the YMCA moving forward. I know once those wine bars open up I will be hanging out there more.
  10. downtown magazine (spring 2009) says the '19 story' embassy suites will breakground in April.

I've never used the bus except to go to/from Austin a few times. I'm not really sure why but I'll look into it. Do you like it?

haha ya METRO never stretches the truth... Looks like I'm going to have to do a lot more walking if I want to go to new places without having to use a car...

So I was taking a run downtown after work and on my way back down Main I saw a guy getting out of truck with LRT on it. I asked him a few questions and got some insight. I'm not sure if it is anything that you guys don't already know. First the funding isn't going to slow down the rail because he stated most of the funding was already in place. The east line (rippin up pavement, actual construction) is going to start in about 6 months according to him due to the fact that they are still working out moving the power lines. Once they get the issues of the power lines figured out, they are going to have crews working on all the different lines simultaneously. This sounds good but he said that this means that none of the lines will open up until they are all completed. He said realistically that all the lines will open at the same time in the middle of 2013. So dang, kind of a while. He said he had been there for quite a while so I'm guessing he probably knows what he is talking about.

Anyone here anything about the timeline for the rails since the $92 million stimulus amount was revealed?

haha i guess but I desire a more walkable city so I walk when I can... I think Houstonians are so use to driving everywhere that walking just seems abnormal as stated by you. I don't think people from any other major city in the US would think a walk from the rail to the Toyota center is far. Last, you got me on the Kayak, Metro won't allow it. You should try it for everything else though...
