  1. good find @Highrise Tower I have never heard of this Dallas restaurant but here is their site: https://www.ilbraccorestaurant.com/
  2. I am so happy for Nidda Thai...that has been a looooOOooOOOooooooOoOoong time coming! AND it looks like Voodoo Doughnut is about to open too! In fact it looked open yesterday but maybe this weekend or next week?
  3. @Urbannizeryou are so awesome! thanks for posting! I was actually coming on here this morning to say that i drove by and looked in the windows and wowsa...this place is just another level...even in the front window display closest to the driveway is something out of a magazine...beautiful couch/seating and display. just WOW
  4. They are painting their entire portion of the building red and it definitely stands out! Looks to be midway through painting a huge logo on the parking lot facing side as well can't wait to check it all out!
  5. got this email just now: Dear Loyal Supporters, Regrettably, after 45 years of bringing Houston the best of art house cinema, today is Landmark Theatres' last day of operation at the River Oaks Theatre. We have been so incredibly fortunate to have made movie memories with you all, from the early days of classics and cult favorites to the Oscar contenders that played for weeks, and those raucous late night audience participation staples THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW and THE ROOM. Thank you for being a friend. Thank you for sharing your personal connections to the River Oaks over this past month. We agree that movie theaters are sacred spaces and we hope that the Friends of the River Oaks can preserve and protect this special place that has brought so much to the cultural landscape of Houston. It isn't goodbye. In the wisdom of NOMADLAND, we'll see you down the road. When Landmark lands in a new location, if you are on our email list, you better believe that you will hear from us. Sincerely, Paul Serwitz President and COO, Landmark Theatres
  6. New article regarding the River Oaks Theater...is it the end afterall on March 31st!? ๐Ÿ˜ข https://www.houstoniamag.com/news-and-city-life/2021/03/river-oaks-theatre-closing-sign-of-larger-problem
  7. OH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! In my head i was picturing it to be just one tunnel but yeah i just scrolled up to the top here to say oh yeah! it is a 2 part tunnel!!! doh! sorry for the confusion and thanks for clearing that up! Now we just need the flared opening on each end then i guess? and haha in the picnic loop there is a little baby armadillo that i catch playing near the side of the road periodically! i have never seen it's parents so maybe you can ask your buddy if they have a missing child!!! ๐Ÿคช
  8. did they finally put in the middle portion of each tunnel? in my head they are leaving the middle for last to keep sufficient light in the tunnels while working before placing the middle portion... as of sunday on my FIVE hour bike ride ( ๐Ÿคช ) the middle portions were still missing to connect the tunnels (ps...yes i am sunburned)
  9. thanks so much for the clarification @august948! you and tacos are awesome ๐ŸŒฎ (but not those columns ๐Ÿคฎhaha!)
  10. hmmm i wonder what this is? a flower shop maybe or something as at first i was thinking it meant freshening up the park space or something but definitely says Interior remodel
  11. Now what?!?! I am confused by this? haha! Does that mean they want to sell the building for the same use or a possible new use? is this a common thing if just selling the place as it to stay a Velvet Taco? (or are those pink columns the downfall after all ;) haha)
  12. That seems to be the Madison Lily Rugs space... and this new place sounds pretty cool! https://www.marugameudon.com/ I have never heard of it before...and as shown on the site: Marugame Udon provides hand crafted udon bowls, tempura, katsu sandos and beverages from a theater kitchen, allowing guests to watch as food is prepared. Our udon noodles are made to order so that we are sure that you are getting the best tasting Japanese food on the planet. Whether you are a new guest or a regular you should check out our menu because we like to keep it exciting.
  13. (fyi...in interesting news, Katz has announced they will be opening up some Galleria area competition, taking over and building on the River Oaks Plant House lot at 5930 Westheimer for an opening in early 2022) (adjacent/across from Chacho's) edit to say thank you @Highrise Towerfor creating this topic! ๐Ÿ™‚
  14. Found this today... is there still hope for River Oaks Theater...it looks like it! https://www.houstoniamag.com/arts-and-culture/2021/03/what-is-happening-with-the-river-oaks-theatre

    3504 Montrose Blvd

thank you so much for that info... i will send you a message...but yes i hope to find photos of it one day...
  16. The building currently standing across from Soundwaves on Montrose is 3504 Montrose Blvd was built in 1999...and it is called Annunciation Greek Orthodox. But does anyone know what the building was before that? I really was hoping to find photos...especially of the back of the building/house? There was a basement entrance etc... thanks in advance if you can help...haven't been able to find anything with google.
  17. i am still torn on the weaved gates but do love the building and it's overall look!
  18. Yeah it definitely could be a myth but i remember reading and hearing about that being the case... i just know if that WAS the case, they sure closed it early as it's been sitting there empty for what? 2 or 3 years now?
  19. around Christmas possibly into January but yep... rip loved that place being so close BUT i thought this whole plaza was being knocked down for the bus terminal or turn around or something? i know that is why Chik-fil-a there in the parking lot closed foreeeeever ago!
  20. that second and third photo look like rooms filled with 1980's decor...but i am sure it will look better once done and in person ;)
  21. haha to all the people above Beernut's post! ๐Ÿคช and dang, that article...i figured there would be 2 sides to this project but i am excited to see it come to fruition...
  22. this project already had me excited but after reading about all the little animals being safer now that makes me extra happy haha! ๐Ÿฆ๐Ÿ‡๐Ÿฟ๏ธ๐Ÿฆ”๐Ÿฆจ๐Ÿฆ„๐Ÿค๐Ÿฆข๐ŸฆŽ๐Ÿ๐Ÿธ๐ŸŒ๐Ÿ›๐Ÿž๐Ÿ’๐Ÿฆ— (yes that little menagerie took hours to post if not minutes...you're welcome ๐Ÿคช ) i would say most definitely...safety reasons for one!
  23. that is great news...while i have never been to Uchi, it is some of my neighbors and friends favorite restaurant so it will be awesome to have this so close to work and home!
