  1. i don't think it will take away from big hotels as much as add to boutique hotels a traveler or even local guest that likes a smaller intimate hotel and prefers not to stay at the large or chain hotels. so, i doubt downtown or galleria will be effected much since most people want to be in the heart of it all and those guests will continue to stay in those areas. what this will get is more artsy, creative and specific clientele looking to stay in something unique... now remember we are not talking about boutique hotels like Hotel Zaza that has 314 rooms but IF we are talking about hotels like Hotel St Cecilia, that only has 14 rooms up to this 71 room hotel, i don't think this will make much of an impact on downtown or galleria hotels :)
  2. i think the whole point of this hotel is to fit within the area and be more like a Hotel St Cecilia or Hotel San Jose, both in Austin...and we don't really have anything like those here...if you ever go to Austin check them out. Hotel St Cecilia in particular is my favorite hotel in Austin...it really does have this cool, homey, but luxury vibe...it is just incredible.... and the first time i ever went was during sxsw and got to meet Jake Gyllenhaal who was staying there! made my whole sxsw haha
  3. no but i will!!! i just liked being able to walk to my fries but you are awesome @hindesky🏆
  4. in what was another shock to me anyway, was that despite all the above posts showing "restaurant" on the Five Guys space, i just realized it is now closed... i am going to miss you cajun fries!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 😩
  5. taken from: https://www.houstonchronicle.com/business/real-estate/article/tacodeli-rakkan-ramen-expand-houston-uptown-17904643.php Rakkan Ramen, a Japenese restaurant, leased 1,860 square feet for its third Houston location. Tacodeli, an all-day taqueria based in Austin, leased 2,800 square feet for its second Houston location following its entry on Washington Avenue in 2017. Kohler will open a 4,040-square-foot kitchen and bath showroom featuring the brand’s faucets and fixtures. Bassett Furniture leased 9,600 square feet for a store to open in late 2023. The new retailers join previously announced restaurants Nando’s Peri Peri and Balboa Surf Club and retail including Bosch/Thermador/Gaggenau, all scheduled to open this year. Bluestone Lane, il Bracco and Kenny & Ziggy’s previously opened during the renovation.

  9. since i drive AND ride my bike by here daily, i had to come back and look at your post of the renderings...as for now to me, it looks like such a mess with all the mismatched facades...but looking at the renderings, i like it haha! we shall see...can't wait for them to be done with this. (ps...i remember them saying they wanted to sort of emulate Uptown Park's aesthetic...that last picture especially seems to show that. i wonder how many of these little hang out areas they will be doing and how they will upgrade the landscaping...exciting stuff)
  10. still hoping for updates of any kind! this is the perfect place for a cool little hotel
  11. thank you @hindesky...you are always THE best on this site
  12. i can't seem to find in search the hotel they were talking about building a block away or so? hoping to get an update on that... can someone post the link? thanks!
  13. so in surprising news to me anyway, Verizon is now permanently closed at this location! (the closest is now Shepherd and Westheimer, oy!) they said the rent had increased to over 6300 per month and i said well with what you are charging me per month you should have been able to expand at this location!!!!!! 🤪😮
  14. wait.......................please explain!!!??? would love this property to be remodeled...or heck, demolished haha! i have lived on this street in various buildings for 26 years so yeah...would love to see this redeveloped
  15. it wont let me edit that i meant to say mid to late 90's! and haha i would love to smell waffle cones all day...i love driving by the bread place on washington!!! 🙂
  16. thank you! so cool to have apartments back there! those are going to be some lucky residents! i have mentioned this before but my close friends dwayne, john and ron occupied the 2 rooftops apartments above Cutloose Hair which is next door to the Blue House back in the late 90s early 2000's and man that such a blast to hang there everyday up on the patio and watch the world of Montrose go by. fun times.
  17. i am really liking the aesthetic of the new redevelopment overall...the dark gray/almost black brick facade looks really nice in my opinion. i am watching to see how in the heck they are going to redo the huge Kenny & Ziggy's signage as they have chipped away everything around it except the lettering on the rounded upper structure. but yeah, it's looking really nice and can't wait to see it finished.
  18. @hindeskymaybe i missed it but this building with it's upstairs and how it continues pretty far back and with an additional building behind it right (as shown in the above photo to the right of the front white main building)? is all this for Jeni's or other businesses as well? It almost looks like a private condo or apartment?
  19. The @uptownpark instagram just posted that Juiceland, Natuzzi, Sweetgreen (as previously mentioned) and Hi, skin will all be coming to Uptown Park this year...along with Lombardi Cucina and Polestar Cars of course. This place is finally filling up nicely. and ps...looks like Sweetgreen buildout is finished and the building/windows are uncovered...i saw people in there this morning working away at doing final touches etc so i am betting this opens in the next couple to few weeks
  20. Beginning March 2nd 2023 Rooftop Cinema will be a 2 screen theater! https://houston.eater.com/2023/2/16/23602539/houston-rooftop-cinema
