  1. Just FYI: Nando's opens next monday August 7th! (photo from their google listing)
  2. just an update, Nandos is turning out to be a really fun and cool edition to this plaza with a much needed exciting look...hope the food lives up to the design! it really is breathing life into what i think is a very ho-hum plaza in terms of offerings...(except K & Z!). ps...i am very angry with @hindesky for not posting a photo update yet...and yes, i know, i can take my own dang photo of the place but it wont look as good as theirs...so yes..i am angry. 😑kthxbye
  3. while they are at it, can they just add a rooftop patio...that would be awesome...
  4. Nando's Peri Peri is hiring...i am guessing they will be open next month! https://www.nandosperiperi.com/find/post-oak/ (the inside looks 90 percent finished and they have painted the outside columns to match their south african theme...the fans and lighting are also already up on the outside area and the place looks cool in my opinion) Honestly i wasn't that excited about it but the menu looks pretty good to me...i will just subtract the chickpeas on anything that includes them haha: https://www.nandosperiperi.com/menu/
  5. eek...in other news i highly recommend Nails Of America in this plaza if i haven't said it already haha ;)
  6. i LIVED at Royal Oak and was so sad when they closed it...that place really had everything i needed. cool vibe, great staff and large patio front and back....then.... this crap 🤮 and did you see that they were so lazy that they put the malibu sign OVER the present company sign and you can still see the old name/wording etc...good lord 😑
  7. uh oh @Triton is in trouble 😜 haha https://www.chron.com/news/houston-texas/article/galleria-street-signs-rings-18184379.php but yay us at HAIF 🤪
  8. yes...VERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRY sad it no longer looks like a substantial structure and does not resemble a hovering ufo...darnit! i guess the old design was either going to be too expensive or too heavy? but at night it does look better than the day time like was commented previously...at least...
  9. this furniture store is NOW OPEN https://www.bizjournals.com/houston/news/2023/06/29/living-spaces-opens-in-former-heb-galleria-area.html and ps...moderators, this probably should be in uptown/galleria forum :)
  10. that one? or did you mean that one you just posted on? haha just did the ziegler/post oak search
  11. I thought I read at one time that this development wanted to resemble Uptown Park with seating areas and shaded areas etc but that is definitely now what is happening so far. They are finishing the resurfacing of the entire lot now and they have not created any new "areas" from what i can tell... and while they have lots of low profile plants in a holding area that they are soon to plant...and are planting some trees in portions of the lot, they have these weird ugly tall plant "trees" in the small medians on the Balboa up to Kenny & Ziggys end of the lot... they should have stuck with the usual trees they have elsewhere. Very strange and goofy looking in my opinion but we shall see. anyway...this development definitely needs something more substantial in the middle of the lot to make this look as nice as Uptown Park. (whether that be a small building (like the small version of the galleria jewel box or the coffee shop at Uptown Park) or a small area with grass and shade and seating (like a mini courtyard version of the area at city center). (Something small enough to not take away from too much parking...as i know that will be the reasoning not to do something maybe) end of rant. haha
  12. me too...not sure why as it looks like it is completely furnished etc...but never see anyone inside training etc?
  13. any kind of news on this property? or it is going to be a thorn in my side forever?! 😵‍💫
  14. low price but omg HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGE monthly HOA/ Maintenance fee: Maintenance Fee Yes / $1393 / Monthly in other words...HELL NO! for that cost it needs to have tons and tons of amazing amenities... yikes
  15. i live across the street from the galleria and have in various buildings on my street for 28 years with no issues so far but yes, sometimes it can feel a little iffy so i am just cautious and alert with my surroundings... anyway, today when i was going by, i noticed there are now new huge signs on every single drive in entrance that warns that no firearms are allowed on property in various languages... so there's that...
  16. finally renovations are about to begin this week!: It’s been shuttered for two years, but look for the historic River Oaks Theatre to come roaring back. The parent company of Houston-based Star Cinema Grill is preparing to begin a $5 million renovation. The 17,000 square foot theater is expected to reopen by the end of 2023 and when it does, there will be a full kitchen offering in-theatre dining plus wine and cocktails. Culinary Khancepts is handling the makeover. They’ve hired Gensler for design work and Star Commercial Construction Group as the builder. Culinary Khancepts acquired the lease for the theater from Kimco, which owns the River Oaks Shopping Center. River Oaks Theatre, which was previously operated by Los Angeles-based Landmark Theatres, closed in March 2021 after failing to reach a deal with the former landlord. The theater was built in 1939 by the now-defunct Interstate Theatre Corp. taken from: https://www.connectcre.com/stories/houstons-river-oaks-theater-to-receive-5m-facelift/ Connect Join the 150,0
  17. yikes! but wow @Luminareyou are smart and stuff! 🙃...it is so crazy that it has been sitting there as a shell for so long...and you are probably right in one of your theories! I hope they can get back to creating something awesome instead of dismantling it! 😩 anyway, in exciting news, The Houston Post has reported that in the meantime they will cover all window openings with giant spider webs and make it a Spirit Halloween Superstore July through October... 🤪
  18. well was trying to upload this cool video of the entrance to Gentle Monster but maybe too large a file...so: 698897700_a5ab94441f80483a90269dc7f9b2c6dd(1).MOV Hope you can see it! It is a cool store...love some of the glasses for sure with most being in the high 200's to mid 300 price range fyi...
  19. Yep! Justin is my best friend of 27 years! and oh wow...yeah his cover story of them in Houston Press was brutal haha...but the funnier part is, years later Justin agreed with some of what he said and laughed it off.... i think there was some sort of interaction of communication between them at one point but wow that was so long ago! May John RIP... I still have a stack of those Houston Press papers with the blue/black/white photo of Justin on the cover titled Little Boy Blue (*which they eventually removed that article online as the Press staff agreed it went a little too far...)!
  20. fun stuff!!!! used to go here whenever i was with the blue october guys for their college station shows! that whole time was quintessential good ole' days :)
