  1. ps... after reading this: https://www.hotelnewsresource.com/article130443.html if i didn't know any better i would think that The Post Oak Hotel and River Oaks District were next door to each other! which gave me an idea... so he buys Post Oak Corner, builds a giant observation tower (to FINALLY do something with that dang lot) and part of that huge high rise of a tower includes a luxury (of course) gondola that takes them down to ROD!!! ha! I will submit plans to his office this afternoon 😛
  2. I haven't been to Bambolino's since the 90's but used to like it...we always called it Pizza Prison because of the metal gate surrounding the place haha ðŸ‘Ū‍♂ïļðŸš“
  3. regarding the big parking lot, i guess they could use the space between the 2 to share parking and then expand Pistoleros to the right taking over that small lot in the long run right?
  4. Oh yeah!!!! forgot about that place but did buy some shirts and jackets there!
  5. heck yeah i do!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! yes this whole little plaza was cool! my friends even bought a couch at Quatrine and i was so damn jealous because the couches there were like sitting on a cloud of marshmallows!!!! ha! dangit sometimes i hate change ;)
  6. wow didn't know that about Daphne!!! their hotels in austin really are my favorites especially Hotel St Celia... so just to have anything even remotely similar to that is exciting. thanks for the info as always!!! (and the always amazing photographs all over this forum!)
  7. since no one has posted on here lately... https://riveroakstheater.com/ Opening soon! 10. my god... he needs to concentrate on that dang Post Oak Corner lot first!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! haha ðŸĪŠ But anyway, congratulations i guess right? he is a good business man but wondering how well a Rainforest Cafe will look next to Dior? ;)
  11. Diedrich Coffee was the best...the location was my second favorite place to hang (Brasil being first). especially loved hanging out there at night on the large area/patio facing westheimer...
  12. all the barricades are down in front of the River Oaks Theater and they have completely redone the concrete entry/patio, sidewalks and even a concrete path/sidewalk for the disabled...looks really nice so far! Hoping for an early summer opening...crossing fingers because i really am excited to see what they do with this place! Just FYi: taken from Houston Chronicle Nov 16, 2023 So what's up with the River Oaks Theatre? Way back in May, Culinary Khancepts, the new operators of Houston's last remaining vintage movie theater, announced that the shuttered venue might reopen by the end of 2023. Now we're coming up on Christmas, and it still doesn't look like anyone should be planning to spend their holidays watching the latest releases at a renovated theater. But anyone who has driven by lately has seen new construction fencing surrounding the building at 2009 W. Gray, while the marquee has been partially dismantled. According to Maureen McNamara, co-founder/director of the nonprofit Friends of the River Oaks Theatre, everything is still moving forward. "I got a text from a friend of mine who just asked me what was happening with the River Oaks and said it looks like they've demolished the marquee. Actually â€Ķ they are taking everything down to rebuild it," she said. "That's part of the restoration process that the sign company is doing. So, they're doing a full front-facing restoration of all the metal panels, all the letters and the neon, and all of that." McNamara says Culinary Khancepts is in the midst of applying for national historic designation for the theater and has already received state historic designation. "This is good news, but it's part of what's made waiting kind of harder," she says. "With national historic designation, you're able to not just have greater protections for the building, but you're also able to apply for tax credits for the parts of the restoration that are preservation related. That is a really big deal for the theater, obviously. It's one of the things that helps make the theater a stronger success over time." Bottom line: There's still no word on an opening date.
  13. yeah back in the day Chuy's (late 80's and 90's) was THE place to go...it was in my mind the first cool Austin import and as much as i loved Austin this made me feel like Houston was cool (still and again ;) ) every time i go now (maybe like once a month or two) it always seems semi busy and definitely not the nonstop hustle and bustle it used to be....in fact this was the place my friends got a job at if they wanted to be guaranteed nonstop business and good tips. I think it was never about how great the food was (but how dare you talk bad about the green ranch dip stuff!!!), but instead it was more about the good prices, the fun and lively atmosphere, decor and music and the hella cool people that worked and frequented there! I think you are probably right about this location one day being history but man what freaking fun memories i have thanks to this place!
  14. always wondered about that place as well as i too get mine from Central Market and on rare occasions from Whole Foods on Post Oak since i can walk there. i started a thing with friends during covid called Fresh Flower Fridays where every friday i would get flowers for my condo and post them on social media just to make myself feel happy during covid haha...and it spread with other friends posting theirs as well! now it's more like Fresh Flowers Whenever Mine Die Day...but whatever ;)
  15. such a relief (ha!) to see the progress finally on this dang development... now can we get these last 3 things: 1) pf changs back in that location instead of the dumb new office building location 2) those cool stores or better next to Ra so it doesn't look like a ghost town 3) a bridge that allows you to walk or ride a bike over the railroad tracks or better yet just raise the tracks of the train to got over Westheimer (and Richmond too while we are at it) thanks in advance ðŸĪŠ
  16. yikes! that is way worse than i imagined!
  17. The Rakkan Ramen and Tacodeli signage is now up! I am guessing both will be open this spring! (and ps...while no signage is up, they are working on the facade and patio of Local Foods so i am betting on a spring opening there as well!)
  18. i know! honestly i was so excited when they were going to take over the old 2 story Topman/Topshop in the Galleria...but covid i think made them pull out of that deal...but hey at least we are getting one still! (still sad Topman closed and went online only..well except at Nordstrom but the selection is minute to say the least...)
  19. You should go saturday (if the rain isnt too bad ðŸ˜Ĩ☔ ) as it is coffee and cars 9am to 11am and the market from 11am to 7pm! I go often and yes it always is buzzing...they just need to keep adding more to fill the building up with more shops or things to do (which will come in time i know). (and now they have a micro Retail Village that just opened up with a handful of vendors and growing! https://www.posthtx.com/shopx#shop-directory )
  20. The Galleria was supposed to get this 2 story shop but now it will be taking over the 2 story Forever 21 spot at Memorial City Mall https://secrethouston.com/uniqlo-houston/
  21. Goode Company needs to take over this place as i think it would be super successful OR have Pappas come back in but with Pappasitos! Both would be amazing choices in my opinion
  22. I recently had a friend come stay who has been living abroad and was so excited to see these things at Post haha...i had no idea what they were but apparently they were a big deal (to some anyway.. ;) )
  23. I am not sure how... His crappy aquarium and restaurant is practically across the street from Post!
