  1. yeah i understand... that is sad because Montrose really used to be THE place to live and hang out...i still love Montrose but it definitely isn't what it used to be...
  2. haha i know!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! it is crazy to see the old plaza and kroger lot just sitting there empty...i know it takes time to do things but good grief!!!
  3. in major developments, the Burger King in the food court opened this week 🤪... haha from what i understand, Sugar Factory Express will be opening in late October/early November...we shall see! "National dessert chain Sugar Factory will launch its quick-service “express” outpost at 5015 Westheimer Road in the Galleria area early this fall. Marking its second location in Texas, the celebrity-endorsed restaurant will offer its combo of “sweets, treats, and eats,” including smoking goblets and colorful, over-the-top dessert concoctions."
  4. wow it definitely looks better! hope it is a good restaurant!
  5. is it possibly because it has been sold or because Soundwaves is sticking around longer?
  6. wow that is surprising... i remember when Cuchara opened the reviews were not good and people had said it was overpriced? has that changed? haha someone let me know if i have been missing out on an awesome place! (ps...i do like Max's weekend brunch so i have been there quite a bit)
  7. i will say though that i have the best memories going to Audio Video Plus!!! it was always so much fun to go there back in the day
  8. yeah, i just love that the coffee shop and the shake shake both have parking in the back...
  9. exactly!!! It is all over the news yet this theater is making maybe close to if not a million dollars worth of improvements...so it blows my mind! IF Regal does decide to shut down theaters this one will for sure be picked up by AMC or someone...BUT crossing fingers it doesn't come to that
  10. okay, DESPITE all the news lately about cinemas (and Regal included) a buddy and i went to the Regal Cinema (Marq*e) and they are more than halfway through with this INCREDIBLE complete remodel (as mentioned on my last post)...it really is AMAZING!!! new EVERYTHING...floors, ceilings, lighting, tons of these cool video screens that line up along the walls showing trailers/movie posters etc...AND all new screens and awesome seating that is way more comfortable!!! loved it! (and they had this cool little hang out area as well) Having the Regal Unlimited card, i cannot wait to go back...bye bye Weslayan location! (they said the renovation should be completed soon as it looks to be about 75 percent done!)
  11. yes it really does look amazing! i am wondering if i missed a timeline on when they will reopen the "real" and new concrete pathway that connects the running center to the picnic loop... i see they have the new winding and super cool pathway ready to go it seems however they are still working on the whole south side of the tunnels creating a large grass area that goes up to the tunnel hills. It also has a large drainage? rock way "stream" like feature that runs through it. I have seen all the work going on as i ride my bike through the new rock/gravel/dirt pathway that you have to go on from the running center to the picnic loop. I know it is alot of work and so it takes time but just wondering when it is supposed to be done. Also wondering if they are planning to revamp the picnic loop? It may be in the plans that i missed, but i wish they would just go in and take all the mismatched and broken down picnic tables and replace them all on even concrete pads/surfaces and make it a nicer safer and more stable experience. thanks for reading that super long post btw haha
  12. I guess so...but lord the reviews on yelp for the Dallas location are something else... 😦 haha
  13. i saw it coming since day 1....the original location is always busy due to location etc... this one was empty every single time i went (which was pretty often) to get their cranberry shortbread cookies and egg tarts etc! RIP...montrose didn't know what they were missing 😪
  14. So today they have the entire expanse of the old Masraff's fenced off...they currently have a crew doing something to the entire facade of the building that faces Post Oak Blvd currently...not sure if this is part of the entire plaza remodel or for something moving into the space... edit to add: i just drove by and looks like there is work being done on the inside AND the outer facade is being ripped off so maybe this is both a remodel and an outer renovation to the plaza.
  15. at this point my ocd is irritated that the one corner building is still standing haha!
  16. Well i guess it's okay to announce now but it's a sad day when i have to say goodbye to Tommy's Grill and their freaking amazing breakfast tacos. Story is they are closing at the end of this month (July). I have been going there for over 20 years and everyone there, especially the owner, is super nice. They will be so missed. (Apparently with the almost 2 year covid closure and then most people not having returned back to work in these towers specifically is what helped push this along sooner than what was planned...) On another note there was another restaurant eyeing this space, so let's see if that comes to light sometime soon. edit to add that yes, they now have a large sign on the window saying: Goodbye and thank you for 30 years of patronage or something to that effect...there was a rumor that a "not so common" establishment was looking at the space but not sure if that was just a rumor or not ;)
  17. everytime i drive by here i think about what a dang missed opportunity this was to have something really cool or at least more original for montrose than just another ugly plain low rise strip center...and to keep that mobile store on the corner is just............ 💀
  18. thank you!!! so hopefully that Berryhill relocates and doesn't just close permanently
  19. i know! it is sad! the original Berry Hill on Revere is still open...it was supposed to close long ago but for now still open. (and the little cart they originally used is still out front by the street...) but i thought that plaza was still possibly being redeveloped? who knows...
  20. yep Berryhill will be missed...it was the one chill hole in the wall places/hangouts left in Uptown proper. i liked that vibe (and their jalapeno ranch dip!)
  21. the link no longer works...does that mean it sold or he took it off the market do you think? edit to say i found it here: https://www.loopnet.com/Listing/2306-2320-McCue-Rd-Houston-TX/25580722/
  22. It's trying to be what it would be like if Starbucks and the Apple store married and had a bank
