  1. But couldn't they at least spruce it up a bit? Seems like it went downhill after Brooks Brother's left.
  2. My wife is thinking about trying this place. But the "hot room' Yoga. Not exactly what she was expecting but may try it anyway.
  3. That building was the HISD Food Warehouse (or something to that affect) up until just a few weeks ago. I thought they were just off for the summer but I guess not.
  4. Americans still make a better truck than Toy(ota). The Toy wants to be an F150 so bad you can see it in the design. Remember the commerical when "they asked how to make American trucks better"? It's not like Toy has great MPG unless you drive 52.5 in the slow lane late at night. Real truck buyers never bought Toyota to begin with, which is why you see a 4% decline vs. the American trucks.
  5. I heard those X6s have problems with oil burn. BMW became lost after the fugged-up the 5 Series.
  6. And is it really overkill to have a few flower shops near the world's largest medical center?
  7. Kinkaid nailed it. Not to mention, it's fun to walk through the coolers in the wee hours. But man, it's hard to pick pretty flowers with a buzz.
  8. I really do see the other UH campuses being able to fill the needs. UT and A&M are close to capacity and fully funded with limited results on a national scale. Not only do UH and Houston need to think big, but so do our small minded state legislators. As far as the tuition hike, I think it comes to $245 at 15 hours. $245 is not going to keep anyone out of college unless they are looking for an excuse to drop out.
  9. So now they have a "wet floor" sign with a taped message saying "no climbing" on the de Buffet. We are truly a bunch of animals.
  10. This place sounds like party central. Anyone ever been? Narcotics, 150 arrested, 500 in the building serving booze in an after-hours club. http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/front/5787545.html
  11. Who remembers when Choate (now Dixie Farm) was a shale road?
  12. I suppose. I wish BMW would again give us something to get excited about. The next 1 Serice and X6 are boring... But I digress.
  13. Houston's "financial district" (thankfully no silly acronym for that yet) is Uptown, right? I don't consider it downtown.
  14. The irony of a love for cars and being killed by a drunk driving. Pontiac GT. What a POC.
  15. Being world class means you must have cute crap in the CBD?
  16. Downtown Macy's is super busy during lunch. I bought a couch there a few months ago. Apple stores are so Emo. I just don't get it. What downtown Houston needs is something that no other part of town has. What that is I am not sure, but I really don't see it being retail. Although I have been wishing for a "high-end" office supply. A place where you can buy a collectible pen set and some executive gifts, etc.
  17. It's sand. They have plants, lillies, etc. that have been planted but they have not take root yet.
  18. The future is now my friend. It is unfolding right before your eyes. Don't let it pass you by. If you could have seen downtown back in my clubbing days. Oy. Getting to Power Tools was an exercise in urban warfare.
  19. Sometimes I wish we would just accept downtown for what it is: A place for business, business related activities and special events. We are so focued on making downtown Houston look like other downtowns we can't see the forest for the trees. Think how much there is to do a stone's throw from downtown.
  20. Well there is still a Payless Shoe Store downtown across from the old Palis Royal (CVS).
