  1. First of all, If this topic has already been started please feel free to merge it with that one. In an unbelievable turn of events In-N-Out, the west coast burger joint is setting its eyes on the lone star state. This is truly shocking because they were always against expanding away from the west coast. If I were Whataburger I would be scared, really really scared as It's burgers DO NOT compare to In n Out. As an ex-California resident this is music to my ears. Enjoy the article: http://www.huffingto...r_n_591188.html It looks like Garland, Texas has been chose for the chains first spot, as well as another spot near TCU. Once expansion begins in Dallas, I have a strong feeling that Austin, San Antonio, and Houston would sure to follow. So what are your thoughts?
  2. Go to KatyISD. Rylander feeds into Cinco Jr and Cinco High...you can NOT go wrong. I have children who went to Cinco HS and a child at Rylander could not be happier with the schools. They are now a sophmore and senior in college. Great schools, and great quiet neighboorhoods. Good Luck!
  3. Does anybody know what is being built next to the firehouse on Westheimer Parkway? At first I thought it was a restaurant but now its looking like a big house, I don't know does anybody know what is being built?
  4. Houses lease fast and expensive in Cinco Ranch. For a 4bd 2-3 bath your looking at $1600-2200 per month.
  5. Actually a church (Family Life Assembly of God, currently located on Mason Rd.) bought 8 acres of it and it started to clear some land so that they could begin the building. However this chunk of land is bigger than 8 acres so I really don't know what else is going on there. I do have to say though that this side of town is becoming increasingly popular for churches!
  6. We have a Meritage Home and we have had a good experience with them. They always came to fix our problems, nothing major just normal cracks and what not. The only negative thing I have to say is that our home was delivered three weeks late but it was probably due to the weather. If we had to do it all over again we would go with Meritage Again. However please be careful about buying in that section of Cinco Ranch they are all "less expensive" homes look at other sections of Cinco Ranch and see how it turned out like the section on 1093 and Mason go inside and see, this is how i predict the neighborhood to be in 4-8 years. Overall its good tough close to schools and shopping.
  7. Yes it is going to be an HEB they are just going to wait to see how the Kroger settles and when they are doing well, BAM HEB is going to hit them where it hurts. They are going to build it in the front it may not be directly but it will be across from it. It will be like the HEB at Bunker Hill and I-10.
  8. Your right here is the link to the video: http://abclocal.go.com/ktrk/video?id=6905551 but at least Tomball residents will have a "park" I wouldnt go as far as to say a "full blown six flags theme park".
  9. This will be the largest Kroger in the entire state of Texas and will be the fifth one that the company has ever built. According to an article that I read it will basically have everything that the HEB on S. fry has (Gourmet food, healthy section, etc.) but will also have a jewelery store and Ashley furniture. I also read that in some part of the store it looks like a JC penny's with clothes and the like. This will be very interesting, if they "Kroger's" only knew what is going to be built right in front of them across 99.....within the next year year and a half............
  10. Wow an Energy Research Park this is awesome! Go Coogs!!
  11. There also at the corner of I10 and 99. They get on my nerves! They decided to do drugs, they decided to live progressively worse, go get a job doing anything so you can have some sort of income. I remember when my I gave a homeless lady my lunch (Turkey Sandwich, soda, chips, cookie, and a peppermint)..I did not want to give her money as I thought that she would use it to buy drugs. As i go forward I look back at my rear view mirror and she threw it in the trash can!!! From there on in I have no more pity for the beggars.
  12. No no no, get ready for this one. The county wants to Cement the two left entrances that lead into The HEB shopping center and Hobby Lobby. They want to make S. Fry with the median the entire way to 99. They said that there has been to many accidents when people are turning left. HEB, Hobby Lobby, Palais Royal, and the Home Depot are fighting this tooth and nail. I think this is a very bad idea they should just put a stop sign.
  13. Once again, I hear a lot of people saying that their stores are busy...There is a reason that their stores are always busy its great service and great prices. I just don't find that at Kroger, Wal-Mart, nor Randalls. Supporting a Texas owned business, the largest private company in the entire state!!
  14. Heck yeah there shaking in their boots. This is Kroger's most "profitable" store in the entire Houston region! HEB is going to make a HUGE dent into their pockets and HEB knows it!! Building right in front of them was no "coincidence" they know their target market and they know it well.
  15. Well according to HAR.com approx. 1/3 of all available homes for sale in Parkway Lakes are foreclosures. That can't be to good and hopefully is not an indicator of what is to become of that neighborhood.
  16. I have lived here for four years. Have never ever had problems.
  17. Ok, I have toured these lofts and they are absolutely phenomenal. I would absolutely love to live there. HOWEVER whoever is running the numbers on this thing needs to get fired! At first they had opened it to graduate students only, shortly after they added the "Professional Students" students in PPA, PES, etc. Then they opened it up to upperclass men (Juniors and Seniors) and NOW they just opened it up to sophmores! This is why: $810 for an efficency. (The living room doubles as your bedroom) $1090 for a ONE bedroom. (It's $545 if you share with a roomate, the rooms are really small) $1620 for a TWO bedroom. *All rooms requre a one year agreement* At these prices they are never going to get this thing filled You can tell that they are not filling these up as fast (if any) as they would like because they keep opening it up to more and more students, I would not be surprised if freshmans would be allwoed to live there next. I know of a lot of students who want to live on camus and we finally found something that was right next to out classes and "safe" HOWEVER they are pricing out students left and right. We minus well go get a house and rent out all the rooms.
  18. This is what the Chancellor and President of UH sent out to all the students and faculty through email: Dear Colleagues and Friends, I want to share some very, very good news with you today. After all of our hard work in letter writing, testifying, visiting legislators in Austin, and earning community support, we can declare victory in our efforts to secure a pathway for the University of Houston to attain Tier One status. Late last night, the Texas Legislature passed two historic bills - the Constitutional amendment that creates the fund needed to finance top-tier research by UH and all the state's emerging research universities, and the enabling legislation that provides a pathway to access those funds. The enabling legislation still awaits the Governor's signature before it becomes law. The Constitutional amendment will be put to a state-wide vote in November 2009, and we plan to engage the support of our alumni, our community leaders, and the UH System family in a drive to educate voters on what additional Tier One universities will mean in terms of economic growth for Texas. We are hopeful voters will pass the amendment. My admiration and gratitude go to members of our UH System Board of Regents, most notably Chairman Welcome W. Wilson, Sr., and Regent Nelda Luce Blair, who devoted many hundreds of hours of their own time to be in Austin at crucial times during the session. I also want to congratulate our legislative team in Austin - Vice Chancellor for Governmental Relations Grover Campbell and Assistant Vice Chancellor Laura Calfee - for their steadfast commitment, brilliant leadership, and considerable talents in presenting our case before our legislators. And I especially want to thank our legislative delegation. They stood strongly with us and provided invaluable leadership and support that made passage of these two key bills possible. Building upon this constitutional and legislative foundation, the University of Houston will be in the strongest position ever to complete our Tier One journey. I want to thank all of you who wrote our legislators, or called them, or helped in any way. I am proud of you and your efforts. Now, let's set our sights on getting the constitutional amendment passed next November. Warm Regards, Renu Khator GO COOGS!
  19. Re: Falcon Point: Congratulations! Now on which side of Falcon Point did you all decide to purchase? The 'Katy High School Side" or the "Cinco Ranch High School side"? Hint: Everything south of Roesner is considered "Cinco High" north of it is Katy High.
  20. Really anywhere in Cinco Ranch or Grand Lakes for that matter is close to all major freeways/tollways. Your less than 3 miles to 99, less than 5 miles to I-10 and about 1 mile from Westpark Tollway. In my opinion that's pretty darn good compared to other parts of the city. Then when 99 gets extended to the North you can be on 290 in 15 minutes. So really anywhere is good! Good luck.
  21. Confirmed. This will be an HEB and looking at the plan it will also have a gas station. They have put "HEB" under the retail drawing, and it says "HEB pad-site" which will most likely be the gas station. http://www.bpirealty.com/Uploads/Documents...eet%20Flyer.pdf
  22. We live in Falcon Ranch, Our home went up 25% last year and this year it has remained FLAT. It did not go up nor down. In my other house, in the same subdivision, the value was also FLAT. I am actually going to go fight it (I want it to be lower I believe they are too high) this is the first time that I actually am going to do it, does anybody know if it is hard for them to try to lower the value and what do I have to do. ANY help is appreciated, thanks.
  23. Well, I finally got to the root of it. The "Unnamed" grocery store on Katy Main Street will be ...............an HEB!!! It WILL NOT be an HEB PLUS or HEB CENTRAL MARKET. It will look a lot like the new one that they have built on Bunker Hill and I-10. They will be starting construction very very soon, and will open up three new Houston area stores in the next year or so. I will get the location of the other two ASAP.
  24. How about the "We Scoop Poop" signs....Yes I have noticed those apartments and just shake my head. I feel sorry for the people who will have that sight in their back yard, the people who live in Falcon Point, for years they had no back yard neighbor and now they are going to have apartments, THAT SUCKS! On another note, WHEN IS THAT HOSPITAL COMING?? I REALLY HOPE THIS PROJECT DOES NOT DIE LIKE THE GRAND DID....
