  1. I appreciate you sharing your insight on Pearland zoning.

  2. I must also agree. My building super told me in late 2007 that Pearland & the SoT require 23 different permits/inspections over the course of constructing a new home. Complying with those kinds of codes is not done cheaply, which should keep the low-end builders out. At least that is the theory...
  3. I'm in Southern Trails, just south of SCR. I think my street is fairly representative of ST, and it has a diverse mix. My neighbors consist of 2 asian (Vietnamese-American) families, 2 black families, 1 Indian family, 2 white families, and 2 mixed families (white-asian, white-hispanic). I haven't been living here long, but everyone seems nice (we are all fairly new to the street), and the vibe seems good. I'm optomistic.
  4. Keep your eyes on Summerbloom Lane. It's a stub now, but it is pointed east right at Kirby. Even if it doesn't connect to Kirby, it could connect to another road that might. I think I know that map you are talking about, Wayne G. gave me one too. It shows a new road stretching southeast, beginning at the ST Rec Center/pool and curving over to connect with Kirby. That one seems definite.
  5. I see they confirmed that not all of the stores will be opening on 07/30/08. Still, I'm excited. Thanks for sharing the link.
  6. There is quite a bit of construction, but right now it seems to be infrastructure, not buildings.
  7. Sorry...that was my slang for expressing that it was packed when I drove by. Even the Drive-thru window.
  8. Don't want to hijack this thread, but...in response to some posts above, the new Taco Cabana in front of the HEB at 518 is open. And the hordes have descended upon it.
  9. Hong Kong would be an excellent choice since it's also a major hub in Asia.
  10. Hope it works out for you to move to ST, we're always hoping to meet nice neighbors.

  11. Hi neighbor! Always nice to meet another person living in ST. :)

  12. There is a Taco Cabana being built in front of this HEB complex. Looks like it might be open by late spring. Yum-yum.
  13. It looks very nice. Polo club and everything. Nice brick walls. Is that one of the prison units I see in one of the aerial photos? I think so. Of course it's (conveniently) not labelled.
  14. Residents of ST, unite! :) Good to know you, neighbor.

  15. Good to meet another neighbor in Southern Trails!

  16. There is a ton of info about the project, including many other pdf documents at this link from the developer, CBL Properties.
  17. I found this pdf document showing a map of the site plan. Quite interesting! The sign out front says it will be finished by July, 2008, but I can't see that happening. The site still ooks pretty raw. Then again, what do I know?
  18. Great commentary, thanks for sharing!

  19. Hang in there, SCR is still a good place to live!

  20. We made our first trip to this store yesterday. Impressive. How come nobody told me there was an Auntie Anne's Pretzel shop there? Those are so addicting!
  21. I found the next article from the Chronicle in early November. They mention the project to add toll lanes to 288 is one of six projects still being considered for 2008. I used bold blue text on the part related to 288, for easy reference. From: Houston Chronicle Date: Wed 11/07/2007 Section: B Page: 1 MetFront Edition: 3 STAR Toll road profits used on streets / $120 million to be spent on `connectivity' projects next year By RAD SALLEE Staff Harris County will spend an unprecedented amount of its toll road profits next year to build and upgrade roads and streets, some of them miles from any toll booth. Call it the third stage of evolution for the Harris County Toll Road Authority, an evolution driven by the struggle to survive. When voters and County Judge Jon Lindsay began the toll road system in 1983, the idea was simple: We'll build this road, and when it has paid for itself, we'll make it a freeway. As other toll roads followed, the tempting revenue stream begat another idea: When these are paid off, we'll keep on tolling them and pool the money to build more toll roads. Starting in 2001, Commissioners Court set aside $20 million paid by toll road users each year to build and improve roads and streets that connect to the tollway system. These annual allocations have helped build more than 80 such "connectivity" projects.
  22. I noticed that there is a new HEB gas station just in front of the main store. It looks like it might have cheaper gas prices too. That will be a nice perk.
  23. Thanks for the notice. Too bad the construction on 518 isn't quite ready to coincide with this opening, but it is making progress.
  24. I really appreciate you sharing information on Southern Trails. Hope to be your neighbor there soon!

  25. It will be interesting to see if the Aliana site's close proximity to the prison keeps buyers away...or not.
