  1. The Burger King in front of the towncenter opened this week. I just had lunch there. It has a sign that says it is open 24 hours. Not sure if that is just temporary or not. The interior is interesting; it has nice decor that matches the 'theme' of the Pearland Towncenter.
  2. It seems weird that the site plan would show the Red Lobster, yet its name wouldn't appear on the list of restaurants. I'm happy it's coming, though!
  3. Hi Brian! Glad to see another ST neighbor has found HAIF!

  4. ...more paying patients...that's the single biggest reason they scrapped up the money to build this. Their history of caring for indigents, while admirable, has been killing them financially. This new facility is a somewhat desperate effort on their part to generate some badly needed income. The theory is that a facility closer to Houston will attract patients with health coverage. However, they still need to find a way to counter the problem of their perception as a 'second-rate' healthcare provider. Perhaps this is a step in the right direction in that regard. These opinions are my own, formulated over the 12 years I worked at UTMB in Galveston. Your personal mileage may vary.
  5. Don't know if anybody reported the new website is up, so here is the Pearland Towncenter website.
  6. I appreciate you sharing your insight on Pearland zoning.

  7. I must also agree. My building super told me in late 2007 that Pearland & the SoT require 23 different permits/inspections over the course of constructing a new home. Complying with those kinds of codes is not done cheaply, which should keep the low-end builders out. At least that is the theory...
  8. I'm in Southern Trails, just south of SCR. I think my street is fairly representative of ST, and it has a diverse mix. My neighbors consist of 2 asian (Vietnamese-American) families, 2 black families, 1 Indian family, 2 white families, and 2 mixed families (white-asian, white-hispanic). I haven't been living here long, but everyone seems nice (we are all fairly new to the street), and the vibe seems good. I'm optomistic.
  9. Keep your eyes on Summerbloom Lane. It's a stub now, but it is pointed east right at Kirby. Even if it doesn't connect to Kirby, it could connect to another road that might. I think I know that map you are talking about, Wayne G. gave me one too. It shows a new road stretching southeast, beginning at the ST Rec Center/pool and curving over to connect with Kirby. That one seems definite.
  10. I see they confirmed that not all of the stores will be opening on 07/30/08. Still, I'm excited. Thanks for sharing the link.
  11. There is quite a bit of construction, but right now it seems to be infrastructure, not buildings.
  12. Sorry...that was my slang for expressing that it was packed when I drove by. Even the Drive-thru window.
  13. Don't want to hijack this thread, but...in response to some posts above, the new Taco Cabana in front of the HEB at 518 is open. And the hordes have descended upon it.
  14. Hong Kong would be an excellent choice since it's also a major hub in Asia.
  15. Hope it works out for you to move to ST, we're always hoping to meet nice neighbors.

  16. Hi neighbor! Always nice to meet another person living in ST. :)

  17. There is a Taco Cabana being built in front of this HEB complex. Looks like it might be open by late spring. Yum-yum.
  18. It looks very nice. Polo club and everything. Nice brick walls. Is that one of the prison units I see in one of the aerial photos? I think so. Of course it's (conveniently) not labelled.
  19. Residents of ST, unite! :) Good to know you, neighbor.

  20. Good to meet another neighbor in Southern Trails!

  21. There is a ton of info about the project, including many other pdf documents at this link from the developer, CBL Properties.
  22. I found this pdf document showing a map of the site plan. Quite interesting! The sign out front says it will be finished by July, 2008, but I can't see that happening. The site still ooks pretty raw. Then again, what do I know?
  23. Great commentary, thanks for sharing!

  24. Hang in there, SCR is still a good place to live!

  25. We made our first trip to this store yesterday. Impressive. How come nobody told me there was an Auntie Anne's Pretzel shop there? Those are so addicting!
