there are still some streetcar tracks on Walker St in front of the soccer stadium
Nah, that's the old Texas Limited tracks. It was a passenger train that went from Houston to Galveston until 1996.
Here's a pic from 1991 by the Maxwell coffee plant. http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=34204&nseq=4

213 Milam per the broker's flyer. Entrance is to the west and north of Barnaby's.
No, it's to the northeast of Barnaby's. Hence my confusion.

It's to the west facing Milam...
I'm thoroughly confused. Is it 213 Milam or 300 Milam?

La Fisheria's relocation will be to the vacant restaurant space next door to Barnaby's (immediately to the West). Market Square is quickly becoming one of the most exciting nighttime destinations in The H.
Next door? Next door to Barnaby would be east.

Old Montrose is dying. All the fourplexes and tiny apartment complexes are being replaced with $800K townhomes. Spaces that used to be Blockbuster Video and a pawn shop are now both Mattress Firms.

Tearing down St. Dane's?
I am a bit surprised it won't be closer to downtown...and I'm also now wondering if Fiesta will get "priced out" and close down.
No. The abandoned Social Security building.

What was the address of Club 21 in the East End in 1977? This is where Joe Campos Torres was arrested before being beaten to death by some Houston Police officers.

That's not really how grocery stores operate, though, it's in their benefit to be packed, not yours, and with the placement of two upscale, full-line H-E-B stores in the area means that everyone in the area that wants an H-E-B has one, and all a third H-E-B would do is just cannibalize the sales of the other two, which isn't good because these types of stores are expensive to build and operate (especially Central Market) and grocery stores are still a low profit margin business.
Apparently nobody advised Mattress Firm.

Predicting another mid-rise apartment complex.

I'd be surprised if it will be an H-E-B at all, since it's smack dab between Buffalo Speedway and Montrose Market. Knowing what I do about H-E-B, it sounds more like a defensive move to prevent any other food or drug stores moving in.
Nah, they acquired the land before Buffalo Speedway and then ended up building there instead.
As to why they're not renewing Stag's Head lease, that is a mystery.

Trymahjong, there were two shootings. One was outside F Bar. The other was by the Camden superblock.

The bridge being built under Louisiana goes right by the door to the Donnellan Crypt. Pretty cool!

What was the last news from there, wasn't it an ill-fated taco restaurant from Woodlands?

I am not "crying" about this building as I could care less if they bulldozed it, historically renovated it, or simply gutted it like they did. What I care about is calling something in the press a "historic renovation" (as I recall) when it is not.
Can you provide a source, other than your own recollection? Everything I remember called it a revamp or a rehabilitation, not a "historic renovation".

Indeed, the JW Marriott downtown ended up looking way better than construction photos would imply.

I stay tapped way in to the local cycling scene, and I've heard of no attacks on Columbia Tap since the arrests.

Considering I have friends that experienced racial discrimination at the Pub Fiction door, I think I'll pass on the beer market.
