  1. Well if you can settle for a town home, there are tons south of i-10 zoned to MHS in a great community called Ethans Glen. The address is anything off of Litchfield. You can even go for bigger in a gated community called Woodstone. The address for Woodstone is 201 Vanderpool
  2. Wow. That is by far the ugliest thing I have ever seen. It nearly compares to our Federal Reserve building
  3. wow. no wonder they didnt want to sell any of this land to St Thomas. that is awful for the University
  4. With the older buildings you run into a very high monthly maintenance fee. I think Four Leaf runs over 40 cents a sq ft. The best ones in my opinion without money being an option -- The Huntingdon hands down. The monthlies are awful though. Other than that anything by Interfin or Randall Davis. Four Leaf, Villa d Este, Montebello, Manhattan, Empire, or the Cosmopolitan. Also been a sucker for the Houstonian. All the luxuries of the hotel at your finger tips and included in the fee. Looking to save green go to the Campton at Post Oak. Great units and cheaper per month. Other than this I have been to the Bristol and it is great. A lot of foreclosures in there though. You wonder if the maintenance fee will be hit because of no one paying it. Maybe theyll fire the valet.
  5. someone told me that when beltway 8 was completed (circa 87?) on the night or weekend it was finished the city threw a big party on the freeway and huey lewis and the news played. does anybody remember this? I only bring this up because first it had to be awesome, and second I just saw huey lewis on a capitol fourth. still rockin.
  6. when did taylor get ghosts? if not I dont see the best school in katy on the list. Cinco n Seven Lakes are just Taylor rehashes. You all know that!!!
  7. Is this the same location as the proposed retirement community high rise? In the Chipotle parking lot? Otherwise I know of know lots on the corner of San Felipe and Woodway seeing how the two are parallel.
  8. "At two storeys high" I dont trust a development company which can't spell. stories! maybe thats the french or greenwich way of saying it
  9. wow paying upwards of 400k-500k and going to Lee...that had to suck
  10. Memorial Thicket is zoned in two different districts bc of the bayou. Everything south of the bayou is Houston ISD and before the Army core re-engineered the bayou it would make part of Memorial Thicket south of the bayou. Hence everything else. I wonder where the kids went to school before Westside, Barbara Bush, and the other opened up in the mid-90s (seeing how MT started in the late 70s) yea Im with you on giving Wolfe back to SBISD. I mean its like 5 min to Stratford but we now have to go 25 min in the other direction to Taylor. Still a good school but c'mon! KISD will never let go of the property taxes though.
  11. I think the answer to his question, rather than bad mouthing him grammatically, is the edwards cinema off weslayan (spelling) in greenway plaza. that would be the only other logical explanation for a second marquee.
  12. they closed down w main between Graustrark and Yoakum to pave it into a walking trail (like Mt Vernon). they are building a new research/science building where the athletic field is now (to answer a research q) looking better and better, though they did have a former enron exec who left with like $50 mil talk to the school about ethics (likely not ethics but still). I think he was also former sec of the army. to me that was not a highlight of UST's speaker forum.
  13. so my 9th grade health teacher was wrong? it isnt the Mississippi run-off? How could you do this to me Mr. Ermis!
  14. you dont think that theres enough rider capacity from energy corridor to memorial city (the new med center) to galleria? the line stops of energy, mc, and the 610 transit center. farther west could be park and ride on kingsland. especially if lines are put down 90, 290, 249. Putting one down 10 would connect the entire west. that is if the other lines are constructed. but of what they say about the new city centre development or even the mc developments I believe that there will be enough capacity. but yes I see how it would be costly to implement one. where is the row? unless they raise or it or strip the center lane ideas but thats not goin to happen.
  15. after the katy project is finished, will there still be room for a commuter rail? or will it likely have to be raised rail? it boggles me where the row would be found.
  16. shouldnt you nominate kickerillo? olde oaks and ponderosa forest were incredible neighbors (haha). I mean he didnt use shabby construction at all. we should wonder about the vintage...
  17. nevermind. I believe this to be a scraped plan of what the dominion at post was supposed to look like. unless prime residential (whiteco) has assessed new land then this is dominion. sorry for getting your hopes up
  18. I believe I found the plan for this building or another one that will be built? It is only 21 stories though http://www.meekspartners.com/projects_deta...ulti&pos=11 if this isnt it, where do you think the location is?
  19. yes st thomas has grown on me. I love being a student and not a number to the administration. my points still stand though. we need to stop enrolling everybody who applies. merit would be a start. that post office building on richmond and graustark needs to be captured by the st thomas endowment and revitalized into a new gym, architectural studies, math studies, and a whole lot more. but we should not tear it down (even though renovations would likely cost more) the building is one of a kind. 1925 I believe was the year it was built. campus involvement needs to be priority no 1 at ust. the speakers and events we have had in this year alone (Aug-present) have been incredible. there has been a stellar academia enrichment this year and it is showing on campus. what else needs to be done? ust alums need to start getting involved in the school they graduated from (job opportunities, internships, mentors, and of course the ubiquitous monetary donations)
  20. if your in the houston market dont you want people with experience from inside houston? vegas, florida and the others are high rise sanctuaries but houston is sprawl. think the texas ideal: big everything. people would rather want huge lots with great gardens than a balcony. high rise builders in houston should try for the older market, the empty nesters and price accordingly. units starting at $1 mil dont really suit the retiree.
