  1. OOPs- I see now I was late in the No-No post. Apologies for the redundancy.
  2. My gosh, this thread brought back a long forgotten memory. KVVV had a kids show 'No-No The Clown' and I believe No-No lived close by because I occasionally saw a van with the No-No logo on Beamer Road, early 1970's. I seem to recall that No-No's son may have also been on the show, as sidekick 'Yes-Yes'.
  3. Went to lots of Friday night midnight movies there mid to late 70's .... Kentucky Fried Movie, Dawn of the Dead, too many to remember. The place was packed back in those days. 1 big screen. Often caught a midnight movie after spending a couple hours at 'The Nesadel Club' which could be a topic of its own!
  4. I LOVED that artwork! Spend untold hours circling all funny stuff on there. Does anyone remember the SWB advertisement "WMBTOPCITBWTNTALI" that was on the inside of the back cover? (We may be the only phone company in town, but we try not to act like it)
  5. Here's a Houston classic fer ya...Remember Stereo Warehouse? The guy smashing the axe though Marantz speakers and receivers? Went out of business alleging that Fed-Ex or somebody lost their package of cash. I bought a bunch-o-crap from the one on Edgebrook/I-45.
  6. I remember commercials for Meyer Speedway, and for Houston International Speedway, which was down in the LaMarque area I seem to recall. "SUNDAYSUNDAYSUNDAY at Houston International Speedway...."
  7. I don't remember specifically what the event was, probably a ballgame, but I remember a guy wearing a jetpack flew around the dome, rounding the bases. The noise was deafening.
  8. Any Pasadena folks remember these burger joints from the 1960's: 'Three Gables' on Shaver? 'Burger Mart' on Edgebrook? 'Mad' Drive-in on Shaver, across from South Houston High School?
  9. There used to be a few Gallaghers Steak House's scattered around. I remember they had live music on weekends and I saw the late great John Vandiver there one time at the Gulf Freeway location. John was a great local talent.
