  1. I enjoy going to ROD. My attitude towards a trip to the Galleria is “Oh crap, I have to go to The Galleria.”
  2. That address comes up as the parking lot next to #s on Google Maps. #s is at 300 Westheimer. The parking lot seems to be owned by a different entity than either #s or El Tiempo. Not saying that this listing doesn't mean #s is up for lease. I'm definitely going to check with some people in the know ASAP. Edit: Just noticed the lease includes a 9000sf building. That would appear to be #s.
  3. Oh no. I absolutely abhor rent freezing. I was only wondering if the market could react in a way that would make downtown more competitive. A rent freeze would be a disaster.
  4. I would like to see the companies that I work for/with take up some of the space in the 30-40 year old buildings instead of moving to the suburbs. I've been involved in 2 moves to the suburbs because of the high cost of office space in the core. Shouldn't some of the space being opened up by the flight to quality make the older buildings more affordable or is there some economic reason that this doesn't work. Bottom line, why do I have to work in Sugarland or halfway to Katy when there is empty space downtown? Maybe we need to stop upgrading to attract new tenants and invest that money in lowering lease rates to attract more businesses to the core.
  5. I walked by that park daily for years. Maybe it’s better now but back then around 2009 it really was used for drug sales and use quite a bit. I wouldn’t say it should be demolished but maybe reworked somehow.
  6. Sorry about the screen. I finally took a moment to look out a window in our spare bedroom today. Can’t believe I didn’t even look until today! It’s very close. If anyone can tell me how to rotate this I will do it.
  7. Getting control of three blocks full of residential in this location would be quite the feat and also very expensive. Using the word “metonymically” in promotional materials makes me take them less seriously.
  8. I walk my dogs past this site daily. Lots of work being done but it is not apparent. From my observation it seems they have been working on drainage, fire water and grade elevation. For a couple of days there were trucks full of dirt unloading every few minutes. It seems they are raising the elevation of the high rise site. They appear to be moving slowly but the site is HUGE.
  9. I have 2.5 crates full of Razormaids! All the chapters, die cuts, and class-x plus most of the rest. Joseph Watt came over to my house for a party a couple years ago and signed a few of them. We played them all night and he told stories about each song. 😄
  10. The North lot that borders Allen Parkway is being partially cleared now. I figure it will be the lay down yard. Nothing worth photos this week. It’s still just an empty lot with earth moving equipment on it.
  11. From West Clay at Woodhead. Edit: Having 2 dogs on a leash makes it hard to keep your fingers out of the photo.
  12. All this talk about sewage reminded me of this paper I read a few years ago about historical sewage treatment in Houston. It seems like a boring subject but is actually very interesting to me. https://edocs.publicworks.houstontx.gov/documents/divisions/utilities/history_waste_water_operations.pdf

  14. Record exchange, sound exchange and of course record rack are the ones I remember. We would go to #s on Friday and record rack on Saturday. Bruce would help us identify the songs from the night before. I remember a friend spending $140 for the 12” of don’t walk when we all made about $4 an hour.
  15. A large excavator was moved onto the site this morning. Demo has begun.
  16. That is quite reasonable and I shall pronounce it that way henceforth. I imagined Baron Von Underbeheit’s accent too.
