  1. Curious what it will do tho Traffic once they start getting some occupancy.
  2. Good catch. I am fine with Niko Niko's but will miss Luby's. Quite a large building for a Niko Niko's though. I would suspect it will be renovated to allow multiple tenants.
  3. HPE will remain at 249. They still have some of their manufacturing there. Specifically CCM7. HPI will be occupying the space in Springwoods Village. I know of a few HPI employees that live rather close to 249 and Louetta who are looking for positions within HPE just to stay close. Even though the trip to the HPI location would be somewhat quick and easy down 99.
  4. Aquiring a permit for a CNG Station in Houston is a giant pain. Probablly helps when you donate one to the city as well. SWN gave home refueling appliances to their CNG Truck winners. I would guess that they will have a station of their own when they move to their new Headquarters though.
  5. Saw that the signage was up this weekend and looks like most of the inside has been remodeled. Should be open soon.
  6. Anybody hear any word about Ref's? I saw the thread about Stats and that is definitely a sure thing and they are almost ready. But I heard through the grapevine that since Pizza Fusion is no more, they were putting a Sports Bar called Ref's in it's place. Any word on that?
  7. They are open. Really nice place. Bout time we got something of that caliber nearby.
  8. Thanks guys. Guess Moderators can delete this post or just let it fade in to oblivion.
  9. Was interested to see if anyone has more information than I can find on the old estate on Nasa Parkway on Clear Lake across from the Hilton. See the overhead shot via maps.live.com below. It looks like a pretty large estate with guest quarters and a nice garden, pool, and other features I can't make out. Maybe a stable or tennis court? Looking at HistoricAerials.com (which was down when typing this), it looks like it predated the Space Center which was my first guess as to who might live there. An important figure there. It also appears to have been part of the Rice Univeristy System for a bit. HCAD shows Olajuwon as the currect owner. What were it's beginnings and who was the lucky person to have such a nice place right on the lake? ANy stories or coments welcome. http://www.bing.com/maps/default.aspx?v=2&...1&encType=1 http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&ie=U...mp;t=h&z=18 Thanks ahead of time.
  10. Thanks for the Pics Susan. That place is hideous. And thats crazy that he was somehow connected to the Karla Faye Tucker crud too...
  11. I searched the site but could not find anything. If this topic has been discussed, please shoot me a PM to the thread and close this one. Someone on another forum was asking about and talking about the Seabrook Murder Mansion aka Toddville Road Mansion aka List Mansion and was looking for more information. Supposedly it was haunted and a pretty nasty murder occured there back in the 70's. Many urban legends surrounded it. I found the following site that as a little tidbit on the story which interested me so I thoughh I would post up here to get the real scoop. Couldn't really find much more. Anyone got any pictures of the place and or credible stories or sources for more information? Who was Bill List? http://www.texasghosthunters.com/stories/east/list_mansion.html Thanks ahead of time.
  12. Man I think 8000 would be on the really high side! If you are talking strictly whats left of the campus there at Louetta and not all of Houston. There were only about 12k in the hey days and so many have been laid off or transferred out I would guess maybe a 1/4 were left if that... I dunno. Maybe someone can call the welcome center and find out.
  13. The shooting was also not at the mall. It was down 1960 a ways near the Sports Authority and Jack in the Box at Grant and 1960. (That's where the cops were sitting anyways). And as mentioned, wasn't a drive by but a Road Rage incident which can happen anywhere nowadays...
  14. This is prolly opening another can of worms, but (minus the ones with mental issues or disablities) why have compassion for those that just do not want to work??? Take for instance the poor homeless less fortunate illegal aliens we have in the city. Not that I condone their behavior at all. But they don't tend to hang out in front of CVS Downtown begging for handouts. They try to work for what ever they can get. They will take any job offered to them. At least they are still willing to strive to survive. Like mentioned, the ones with disablities or mental illnesses should be taken care of. These homeless that just do not want to work and just ask for handouts get no respect from me. My 2 cents.
  15. Looks like any development at all will be some time out. A minimum 2-3 years before they can even break ground. But progress is progress... I ain't holding my breath though... http://www.beaumontenterprise.com/site/new...12588&rfi=6
  16. Oops... Yeah Gender. I meant gender... Anyways. Point stands. They can just make up excuse after excuse if they want to deny entry to a certain race as well. Same rule of no evidence applies. If they want only or mostly white crowds, just let ni a few "insert race here" that appear to be "white washed". And deny entry to all the rest. Oh well.
  17. Happens all the time. Me and a friend have been denied access to certain clubs in midtown because we did not have any females in our group. Or "No guys allowed in right now, only girls..." You can hear that phrase every night all night at clubs. Isn't that discrimination based on race? We had a friend in our group with us once of a certain race that was denied entry because his shoes "Were not the right style for the club." Another guy in the same group had tennis shoes on. He had nice leather shoes just like everyone else. When he asked what was the right style, the bouncer just said "Not your style." Happens ALL the time... And no one will stop it either. What ya gonna do send Wayn Dolcefino?
  18. I knew there were alot of Fertita's in Beaumont. Never really knew if they were closely related. I thought Tillman grew up in Galveston. I spoke with a few other people who also said that they thought Landry's was behind it. If so all the better... Just wouldn't have thought that... Oh and I also heard that they are already signing up retailers for teh Metro Park thing. Rumor has it that Frankie that owns Madison's is going to have some sort of restaurant venue there. Should be a real nice selection of small restaurants, bars, and shops.
  19. You mentioned that earlier but they have never really had much of a presence in the GT. Joe's was their only restaurant in town and they sold that whole chain off. Plus they have not been in the greatest situation financially lately and are just starting to get back on their feet. I'm guessing that Walter has his fingers in it somehow. Come on... Spill tha beans mang!!!
  20. That's it! And the site says they have begun construction. I might be moving back soon and would be looking for a condo and the ones downtown don't really appeal to me. That site and location looks great. You could skip everything by hoping on Folsom if ya needed. Where exactly is it? The picture looks like it is accross from those offices that house The Pablano Grill. That would be a perfect location. Their Potential Tenant Offerings sound interesting if they can get all of that in that location. And I doubt Beaumont traffic will ever be an issue after getting used to the crap we have over here. Specially during the holidays like we just dealt with... Sorry for going off topic and being a pain...
  21. I only get the Enterprise on Sundays and remember reading an article about that early December. Thats how I recalled the other thoughts. I went and looked and found the article on their site. (horrible search engine by the way) I am originally from Orangefield and have only been over here for about 7 years. Still go back all the time though. Friends and Family and whatnot. And I guess you are right, it mentions an Event Center and Waterway type thing. Although I doubt it will look as fancy as the drawing. That is good news... http://www.southeasttexaslive.com/site/new...12588&rfi=6 Have you heard anything on the retail/shopping center planned for Dwolen Road? I had read about that sometime around September if I remember correctly? Could have been alot earlier. Was supposed to be like the woodlands or sugarland with shops and restaurans on the first floors then lofts on the second and third. It was being planned by a couple but I can't for the life of me remember their name.
  22. There is alot of re-vitalization going on but not on a scale like here in Houston. I think that drawing up top is definitely a pipe dream. Where would they get good clean water? Have you walked down by the Neches near downtown! You might be talking about Rick Clark's plans to build/finish the Cathedral Square residential and commercial properties. There are aleready some residents of some townhomes, but the whole thing is still in the works. Then some developer called Rehab is restoring teh ol' Neches Electric buuiding and some others for residential use. I think I've heard some interest from the Penland's for residential use as well. I think with that many residential interests in the area, some more commercial use as well as restaurants could be viable. And they can keep some of the history like that Dr. did with the Coale building when Suga's went up. Well ill quit ranting now...
  23. Nation wide, yes. But I wouldn't say International. They used to have one on Bourbon Street that was a blast but I think it disappeared with Katrina.
  24. Where would/is Maggiano's going to go? IN the mall? I don't know about that. I love Magianno's but that seems like it would take away from some of the ambiance. Maybe they could pick up one of the other restaurants that have been closed for some time. Maybe like the old Champps building. I would think they would have come down a little in price beng they closed because of retail real estate values (rumor has it) and it hasn't had a tennant since. That would be a great spot for them. Or maybe new contruction a little further north by that new neighborhood/high end retail area thats going up off Louetta near HP.
